If you're trying to stay with 8.3, I think you'll really need to go to 8.5- 8.5 works much better with win 7 according to cake support, and I definitely think so! 8.3 wasn't really built for win7.  8.5 runs real well on it, except that dim pro problem.

Have to say, tried X1 and totally hated it. Had to change everything almost about my usual workflow with the new tools and stuff. Really horrible, far as I'm concerned. After going back to 8.5, I'm so glad I don't have to learn a substantially new app, all over again! Also, X1 makes you not be able to change many of the color choices that you could in everything up to 8.5. Personally, one of my biggest pet peeves are apps that force you to look at a bunch of shades of GRAY all day! UGLIEST COLOR AVAILABLE! Hated X1a lot- did I mention that?!

But 8.5 works beautifully with win7 64 bit. Highly recommended!
