I'm not personally bothered one way or the other. It's always out round about the end of the month, give or take. I'll not starve waiting for Sonar updates.

However, if one were in a pedantic mood, one could fairly say that a colourful definition of "early access" is being employed.

They probably had an unexpected issue that threw off the timeline. I'd rather have it right and a few days late than need a hotfix.

I think we should invite all the people who post "Where's the update? We're supposed to have an update!" and all the ones who say "I'd rather not have something every month, it must be too difficult to follow a monthly schedule" to a large hall, have an open bar, and charge admission to anyone who wants to watch what happens when they start arguing with each other.

I'm counting on March 31st, but I'm no mathematician.
They haven't missed a month end deadline yet, so I'm banking on that . . . but then, I'm broke, so what do I know ?
. . . but seriously, the cake will be delivered when fully baked, we don't just want the dough, we want the cake.
In Craig's vision of a large hall with an open bar, I would like to be the doorman, or the bouncer . . . but certainly not the bartender.

Cakewalk by Bandlab, Cubase, RME Babyface Pro, Intel i7 3770K @3.5Ghz, Asus P8Z77-VPro/Thunderbolt, 32GB DDR3 RAM, GeForce GTX 660 Ti, 250 GB OS SSD, 2TB HDD samples, Win 10 Pro 64 bit, backed up by Macrium Reflect, Novation Impulse 61 Midi Key Controller, Tannoy Active Near Field Monitors, Guitars by Vantage, Gibson, Yamaki and Ovation.

It would seem appropriate for something posted by Cakewalk itself as to what the status is.   I am not sure what the benefit of a surprise is.   They are usually very informative on this forum, in fact, more than most manufacturers.

The march release is a huge update with several months parallel work rolled into it. With the new help module which is a new skylight view along with the ARA tempo extraction, there were a lot of permutations to test and clean up.
As a result we would like to get more feedback before we release it to end users publicly. However it is available via the early access program. The public release will likely be early next week.

Also a reminder - as Craig and others have reiterated, we have never said that we would guarantee a release every month. We generally aim for it and have managed to do so in the past but some releases end up being bigger depending on the feature set and may not fit nicely into that schedule. Its also very possible that you may have a release with no new features but some bug fixes or something else like new fxchains or other content.

I am very happy that CW is more concerned with quality rather than meeting a deadline that isn't that big a deal anyway. We are the ones that will reap the benefits of this wise way of proceeding. So I give mega kudos to CW for placing us ahead of looking good to a few.

Edit to add:

We also have now the Early Access Program that mitigates any loss one might think is there. Again I think we have the best of both worlds here. Its clear that CW has thought deeply about all of the possibilities and has come up with a fantastic solution for us all. We can choose to wait or plow ahead its puts all the power in our hands. How thoughtful of CW.

All I can say is I'm impressed.

Like with the wife, I thought my monthly DAW PMS crankiness would subside, as with menopause, when its monthly ordeal subsided, however its seems its now only replaced by more regular hot flashes. :).
(I'm not even sure what this means, the thought just came to me),
Otherwise, the operational patches/fixes on the more regular basis is where I think the real value is, albeit possibly not as obvious as the big shiny feature we all cant wait to see. Currently I'm not having any operational issues so can concentrate on producing my music. (and not that anxious to update anything).

Cheers, and have a great day.

The early release is available now. We had to take a little extra time this month but still got it out for preview. I see no reason to rush something for the sake of hitting a date when you basically have it available right now to check it out.

Well last year you said "Monthly updates" and you then backed into a corner in January! AND as I said then, and I asked you when you changed the wording to "12 months of updates" was to mean not every month? with No reply from you! Well after 2 months you finally admit it! Now you just made ALL the people who keep asking "where's the monthly updates" look like suckers! It's been a long time
Now Noel's coming back home
He's been away now
Oh how, you've been alone

Wait till he comes back to your side
We'll forget the tears we've cried
But if your heart breaks
Don't wait, turn Noel away
And if your heart's strong
Hold on, he won't delay

In that case, you might want to talk to whoever maintains your web site because it quite clearly promises "Innovation delivered monthly" as part of the description of the membership program.

And also from the blog:
Each month, you receive an update (or sometimes more) which can include anything from fixes to new features and tools, add-ons, additional content, tutorials, and more.
