I've had a go at a few more oranges this morning, they're not great but hopefully one will suit:

Thanks ston, they are great. I especially like orange6.
Maybe I should try paint.net and create a slightly lighter version of the default "Teal 2" and a bit stronger "gold1", but I probably won't be able to do it nicely (in other words, you can continue the therapeutic session if you don't mind  no hurry)

My track view strips now look very colorful and amazingly attractive. Thanks!

I want to change the background colors and leave the foreground colors the same.

I don't want a bunch of different color wave forms. It is incohesive and it deemphasizes the idea that each waveform drawing is a meter that provides valuable information about how the mix levels will sum.

I want a bunch of different color "Clips" that help me manage and visualize the routing in my project.

I use blue for drums, brown for bass, yellow for guitar, grey for vocals, purple for keys etc.

This is what I was looking for when posting the question. I wanted to do something similar, but am not sure how it is done. Are you using X2? Can I quick group tracks in folders and change them all at the same time?
Thanks!!

Does anybody know if colors are customizable in Sonar X3? I haven't upgraded from X2 yet and was curious.

Btw, does anyone here know in which folder these 3 default icons are located?
I want to use them for track folders but I can't seem to find them in any of the folders in the Track Icons folder.

They are locked away in the tsres110.dll file. Unless you want to use a resource editor to extract them to your icon folder, they are inaccessible.

If you're handy with screen capture and photoshop, you can make your own though.

Being an X1 user and someone who has followed these forums for a LONG time and has seen thread after thread about the lack of color customization, I find it kind of humorous that I'm seeing people opting for the little colored squares (track icons, right?) in X3 rather than the custom track colors.

This way of marking things has been there since X1 - am I missing something?

That said - I sure would like to update to X3 to have the option to play with these things....alas...$

No, it's probably just me who didn't know this. Because when I upgraded to X1 from a very old version and saw the picture icons of guitars, drums, etc. I thought "How ugly!" and lost all my interest in icons in Sonar. :)
