To quote Tom Jones, it's not unusual. If somebody is able to bump that thread writing they can reproduce in Sonar H, maybe then a host could move it to problem reports forum..

Hey guys,
I agree this is a bug. However, it's not as simple to fix as it may seem and would require some fundamental changes to how we handle track colors (or track templates). So when we weigh the severity of the issue vs the risk of impacting other stuff we end up trading for other fixes. It is in our list and is not being ignored - we're just trying to use our time as wisely as possible.

Well, upgraded to Professional and started creating track templates. No color saved.....it seems so fundamental. Wonder what else is not saved

I really hope this gets implemented sooner rather than later. The team has obviously been focused on bigger, cool features, BUT ...
Considering that custom track colors are stored and function correctly in *project* templates, the change to storing color info at the track level must pose some difficulty or compatibility problems across versions that aren't immediately obvious to us.

Colors in general seem to be a problem in sonar. It took a long time to even get any track colors! The colors selection seems limited and you can't save them with the track template. AND they acknowledged the problem two years ago. Cake claims it is on some list, but two years?
I suspect that colors were kind of tacked on and are very limited, or that the code is so jumbled that it might be almost impossible to improve as it is now.

Manually by the user? That just makes things fiddly again for no reason. Some people will want to use track template colors at all times, some will prefer not to, some will want it to work unless inheritance overrides it. In addition to the above you could have keystrokes that could override behaviours set in preferences (eg adding track templates using shift,Ctrl, or alt). You could even do it like inserting in a soft synth where a property dialogue optionally appears.. All sorts of ways really.. Cheers..

I prefer to build my projects in a modular way using track templates and use colors to categorize the various stages of tracks in a folder so it's great to see this. I've been using some new templates that I didn't bother adding colors to and loaded an older one by accident - glad I did!
