Trouble trying to record guitar with X1 Producer

Hi, I'm a complete noob so this probably explains why I'm stumped. I installed Sonar X1 Producer yesterday and updated to X1a already. I am using windows 7 x64 and a Line 6 TonePort UX2 for my soundcard and I am running the WDM drivers. I plugged my guitar into the guitar port on the UX2 and added a track and chose the Line 6 left input channel. Whenever I play, I can see the meter move up and down but it doesn't go above -27 or so. I tried adding the included Guitar Rig 4 x64 in the FX section so I could up the volume with an amp model but the input/output meters don't move at all within Guitar Rig and I still don't hear anything.  I noticed if I record like this, when I hit playback, it plays it normal volume with the guitar rig effects.
On the guitar track, I have the output set to master and the master is set to the Toneport UX2.
What do I need to do to be able to hear it outside of just playback?
Thanks!

Thanks. I'll check it out. I ordered sonar x1 power on amazon but it doesn't look like it comes out until the end of february.
Another thing I just noticed is after recording a track like i mentioned above, if i play guitar again, the meter doesn't move. I have to unarm and then rearm the track to see it move

Don't feel like that, but I would recommend this:

If for any reason it's expired, do the 30 day for 17.99 one. It's been widely praised here.

Yeah the track has to be armed to hear it. Also depending on your setup the input echo needs(button next to arm record) to be on.  I am not familiar with the line 6 UX2.  Have you tried ASIO driver?

Oh cool, I hadn't heard about the Groove3 videos. I need them yesterday! lol
I tried the ASIO, the WDM, and the WASAPI while playing back one of the included sample projects and couldn't tell them difference. I set them all for 6ms latency and didn't hear any pops or clicks or anything. The cpu meters were about a quarter way up for all of them, so I just went back to WDM because that's what was there when I installed it. I tried going to 3ms but the cpu meter went to half way up so I figured 6ms was fine for now. I've never used a DAW before, just sibelius and finale for scores so all of this is new to me. I spent $5 earlier on the SWA website for their sonar 8.5 tutorial so it's been helping me somewhat. Wish I would have known about Groove3 first though since X1 looks a lot different
