Trying out LANDR

I just completed a mix in SPLAT and have posted two links in the song forum:
http://forum.cakewalk.com/Circumstances-Pre-and-Post-LANDR-Mastering-m3464493.aspx

1) My Mix
2) My Mix after sending it through LANDR

I've never tried LANDR before. Interesting results.

Great song, great performance, great mix! I liked your original version better than the Landr mastered version. The Landr version seemed to squash some of the wonderful dynamics in the original and (and I felt) was really unnecessary.

You are doing great work, thanks for sharing it! Keep it up.

In the interest of honesty... I only mixed the song. The artist is Dawson from the UK, and it was recorded and produced by Jamie Mac. It's this months song on the "Dueling Mixes" site. I mixed the raw tracks from scratch in SPLAT. :-)

The Landr mix hyped the highs too much. You may get more transparent results choosing their "low" preset.
Also if you are using Landr you should probably give it an unmastered mix with a higher dynamic range for best results, otherwise its working with already compressed audio data.

...or ... perhaps for the _most_ transparent results ... don't use it at all.
