Get a BCR2000 to go with your BCF2000.  They make a great couple.

I keep my BCF in Mackie mode and use the BCR for plugins and external hardware.

Sonar X2 Producer 64 bit
Sonar X1 Producer Expanded 64 bit
Sonar 8.5.3 Producer 32/64 bit

Yea and I've tried this already, for some reason it doesn't step through each plugin. It just stays at [P1.].

I just realized something, are u guys all successfully using it on XP? Im on vista x64
Which also means I can't use BCF View.

Hey guys I did something stupid, i was confusing the edit on the bcf2000 itself rather than the function edit while under mackie control ... everythings workin quite nicely now. One ques though, I think i did something and cant figure out what it is. In tr. or tr mode, when i move the pan rotary it also moves the fader. It wasnt doin that before and i was messin around with different combos and maybe did something wrong to cause this. Any ideas? otherwise, what fun so far!

Yeah, working from memory again, there are 3 'modes' that you can use it in - there is the regular fader and pan 'mode' - so depending on what the rotary is assigned to and I'm assuming 'pan' here - volume on the fader and pan on the rotary, then you can 'swap' so the fader and pan assignments swap volume on the rotary and pan on the fader, and the third swap is duplicate so they are both volume/pan/whatever depending on assignment. Fourth press gets you back to regular fader/pan.

I can't remember the key combo to change but I think it may be 2nd shift and 'edit' (Mackie assignment) keys. Sounds to me like you really should visit the behringer website and make up your own overlay. Somewhere on their site there is a pdf that allows you to fill in all the key assignments, both the Mackie designated (found in the mackie help file) and your own (changed via the controller surface properties). I printed mine onto some good quality photo paper, cut it out and glued it over the BCF. Hey presto a fully labelled controll surface. It makes it much easier learning  all the possible key combos. It's worth perservering, after a while they become automatic and it's real quick and easy to use.

EDIT: As Blades has already said the best option is to use the BCF for track/buss control etc and then a seperate controller for plugins. By coincidence I use the same as him a PCR-800 for controlling plugins.

Could you provide the link to this overlay. I ask because the pdf's I'm seeing on their site dont seem like overlays to me. They just dont seem right, like they wouldn't lay properly over the bcf.

Also, im actually liking having control of track stuff and plugin all from the bcf

Have a look at http://www.behringerdownl.../BCF2000_templates.pdf

Scroll down to pages 4 & 5. You can click in the various templates and type whatever you like then print them out.

Note that you cannot actually download them from the site you have to edit and print them online. They work well printed onto a good photo paper. Mine have been on for well over 18 months and at a glance you wouldn't know they aren't part of the unit.

Glad you're enjoying the BCF, it must be one of the best value bits of kit out there.

Yep, that's the one that I just dont get or like. Theres no space to type in anything vertically. If you "return" for the 2nd line the font gets super small. I think im gona just have to make my own from scratch,

You should be ab le to type in the vertical column. Just click in it - little hard to read I grant you though. I think on mine I just used a dash rather than return something like "mute - solo - rec" but I do remember it being a bit of a pain, not too mention fiddly to set up.

You're probably right in making up your own.
