Hey, Grant,

Don't know how I missed the first mix, but absolutely FANTASTIC job on this great ZZ Top cover!!!  Super tasty playing and great tone, as always from you, excellent vocals, and a nice solid, pro sounding mix.

Those good old bearded boys from Texas would be proud!

Really dynamite work, Grant!

Only listening on lappy speakers, but it all sounds good to me. I like the vocal treatments you used.

This would pack the floor at any honky tonk anywhere.  This boogies!  I thought the vocals come up a tad, cool guitar work.

Hey Grant. This is what I hear, so take it with a grain (or a pound) of salt: bass and guitars sound terrific, I mean badass. To my ears, you could roll some high end off the drums. And you could bring up the vocals, they sit too far back.. But a ton of fun otherwise.

A few guitars, a couple of basses, a MIDI controller, a mandolin, a banjo, a mic, PodFarm2

New mix up

Thanks Tom, much work done on the drums, hope they are sounding more human now.

Thanks Mark, glad you enjoyed

Thanks James, glad you liked it.

Thanks Bert, Glad you enjoyed. Yes they just released a CD a while back and it is more like the old ZZ I love so much. A must have for any ZZ top fan.

Big thanks Blipp, so glad you enjoyed.

Big thanks Kev and Starise

Also have to thank the many folks that go through the trouble of making tutorial videos to post them for our benefit. I used many videos from Danny and some from Karl (FBB) from the Sonar forum. Quite a few other as well. I couldn't have got as far as I have in understanding music production without their generosity and I am grateful. I still have a long road to travel but these guys made road easier to see. Big thanks guys

New mix up, final for now I think until I have to go to the task of making the compilation all gell together.
I believe I covered all the crits here as far as volume level for vocals and brittleness of the drum buss.  Thanks for the help all.

Hi Bob, thanks for checking it out, glad you enjoyed.

Hi Wookie, thanks for stopping by my bro from a galaxy far far away, glad you enjoyed.

Hi Janet, thanks,glad you liked

Thanks for checking it out Paulo, glad you enjoyed. I tried everything to get that vocal effect and settled on the very first plug I ever picked up back in the Win 98 days. A directX plug called ohm boyz

Thanks all more to come...

This is still good? But there's not enough Jobby (James/Bobby) involvement or reference? Please see what you can do to correct this problem? And then it will be EXCELLENT! Are you considering any new instruments? Or perhaps a car part? I really like cars!

I'm sorry baby? Here, let me make dinner? "Kielbasa..."  I'm sorry for that right there Lord. She makes me happy...

Ha, that was great!  The vocals really fit nicely.  Grant, you did a really nice job on this.  I've seen ZZ Top 4 times and was prepared to not like any cover by anyone.  I LIKED THIS!

Last mix up 3,18  I recently picked up that brainworks V2 mid/side eq.  I've since discovered I have no business having it right now. I replaced that with a Pultec. Also this last mix I'm using a combination of ARC and the Focusrite VRM box.

Sure hope I didn't miss anyone I'll go over the thread to make sure, Thanks again all.

Big thanks Warren glad you enjoyed.

Hi Grant,

Great choice for a cover. Really well done, too!

Love the guitar tone and all those cool riffs. Great job on the vocal, too. Love the vocal treatment.

Excellent job.
