UA-1G driver installation problem on Windows 8, 64 bit

Anyone tried installing Windows 7 64 bit UA-1G driver in Windows 8, 64 bit?
I've tried, in Windows 8 release preview, 64 bit, but without any luck.
Anyone know if there's a way around this or if Windows 8 drivers are available anytime soon?
Thanks

I was wondering the same thing. The UA-1G works great for me in the x64 edition of Windows 7, but in the x64 edition of Windows 8 RTM, it won't install properly. I also can't uninstall the stub of what Windows tried to install. The uninstaller throws the same error that the installer throws. And there doesn't seem to be much support for the UA-1G on this site. The form for tech support doesn't even list the device. And these user forums are pretty empty. I hear crickets.

    Hi,

I emailed Roland asking about this and here is what they replied with:

    Hi Chris

As windows 8 is currently in beta there are no drivers available for this operating system. You may be able to use the UA-1G with the advanced driver switch turned off (though this has not been tested, so it may not be the case). I’d give that a go and when windows 8 is released in October, I would expect a bit of a delay before Roland Japan releases a driver. Note that as this is an older product so there is a possibility that a driver will not be released or it may take longer for the driver to become available than some of our newer products.

Thank you for your understanding, let me know if you have any further questions

    Regards

Same pb with UA-25 EX, and same answer :/

I think the drivers will not be available for several months :(

Is there a windows 8 compatible sound card now? with asio drivers for cubase?

The driver they have technically works with Windows 8.  However, it will not install as is due to a hard coded Windows 8 exclusion in the INF file.

I am a windows developer and was able to edit the INF and then re-sign the drivers (required by windows 8).  Also, I had to set Windows into a special test mode allowing self signed drivers and then the drivers installed and they work just fine.

All they need to do is remove the Windows 8 exclusion and it will install so I am really hoping they do this soon.

I posted some info on what I did here

If anyone is interested, I could share the driver I fixed and am using (x64 only).  The only change I is the INF file and the digital signature.  I did not edit any of the actual drivers.  Setting Windows 8 into test mode is the only requirement and should only be done by someone comfortable with managing drivers.  It does remove a protection that Windows 8 provides by making it work like Windows 7 where you get a prompt before installing unverified drivers.  Windows 8 by default will just not allow it - no prompt.

There is an other option which requires a special reboot option each time you want to use the drivers.  I did that initially but it really started to bug me so I just fixed the driver.

    Thanks,
