You pulled the trigger!
Pete's video pretty much says it all in terms of the sounds you can get, so I won't go there.
I did do a quick latency test. I've posted a screen shot here.
All signals were captured simultaneously.
Here's a quick signal chain.
Guitar > Little Labs DI > DVA 50 > Palmer PDI-09 > OX AMP > Digital and Analog > UFX > SPLAT
Using the DI recorded signal as the base:
the Palmer is 5 samples late (speed of light huh?)
the OX SPDIF is 114 samples late
the OX Analog is 126 samples late
Does it matter, what's 114 or 126 samples at 44.1k; couple feet?
The big thing is the "feel", next the "dynamic speaker modeling".
I'm really wanting to love this thing.
The digital out; is it locked at 44.1k?
Of course going analog in you can sample at any rate you want, but with the additional DAC.
Will additional speaker, cabinet, mic models be free or "pay for play"?
I'm guessing that additional effects will become available as "pay for play".
Will there be a MKII at some later date that "fixes" any issues?
ie: if the digital is locked at 44.1k and requires a chip change to add 48k and 96k.
I'm guessing that there will some pressure to add at least 48k.
Lack of Windows support is an issue, but if its WiFi only, I don't think I want to go that way.
Well that's my nickel98's worth.
This bad boy IS pricey! But it does "feel" and "sound" right.
The Two Notes Torpedo Reload with their "Wall of Sound" is a similar (kinda) solution.
Wish you could link the DI to the "replay" internally.
Or the Captor, save some ca$h with that option!
I won't go there with the Studio, I'm sure its the greatest thing since sliced bread; my GAS isn't that bad!
