did you ever figure out what this was. I recently purchased a us-2400 and have the same issue?
ORIGINAL: Tug

I too just purchased the US-2400, and it did NOT work at all. I currently run Sonar 4 Studio edition. It was easy to configure, but once everything was configured, one touch of a fader, the whole thing would start dancing around. I liked the idea of having 24 sliders, but I had to take the unit back. Is there something I was missing ? Please advise, I would consider buying it again. Tascam and Cakewalk tech. support had no advise, except "It should work"

Did you update the firmware BEFORE attempting to run it from Sonar? The original firmware did not work properly for Sonar. This problem could also be related to you having an M-Audio MIDI port installed or other USB audio or MIDI type device.

Rickgn,
After speaking with a Tascam rep. We re-configured and it works fine. I thought I had done it correctly, but apparently not.
But just today I booted up the system, and found that I had to config. it again. What's with that? Only takes a minute, and it's back on line, but that's not the point. Should I leave the control surface on stand by when not in use?. I unplug the unit when I am not using it.
Please advise.

Tug,

I get the same problem. Sometimes it will stay configured and sometimes not. You're right, it only takes a minute, but it shouldn't be.

Hi
Hey its 2010 now (april)
I've just purchased a second hand Tascam 2400

It works great with my SONAR 8 PE... except bank switching....
while I can control the volume... mute and solo (etc) of 24 tracks at a time... if I bank switch it only moves in banks of 8 not 24.... which is a pain

anyone know a fix for this?

My, how the years fly by!

I've never bank switched with mine.  the only problem I get is that I continually have to set it up again, otherwise it "clones" movements on the 9-16 & 17-24 track sections.

FWIW:  One thing I did find in use - It's very finicky about the other MIDI inputs.  The input and outputs have to match and you can't add another device without rebooting.

Other than that, like every other US-2400 user, it's a machine you love to hate.  When it's working there's nothing like it!

Mine has become very stable and I rarely have these issues anymore.  This is due partly to my MOTU MIDI Express XT.  8IN/8OUT.  Adding MIDI devices no longer causes problems.  Otherwise, as you have previously stated, It will act screwy.  Another trick is to make sure all your MIDI and USB gear is on prior to opening Sonar.
