Try replacing the file in that cache folder I mentioned.

From Bob in the other thread: On Edit: alas, the internet (i.e. photobucket) is automatically converting the BMP to a JPEG. Sorry. You can convert it, or just ignore the whole thing until the fix comes out. :-\ This may explain why the picture posted didn't work.

Excellent point StepD. SONAR caches these things. After updating the PC2A resources folder, you should check "Scan VST's at Startup" in the Preferences, close SONAR, then restart, to get things to refresh. ~Bob

Should be in one of those folders, but try doing what Bob said about scanning to update the caches.

Yeah, I think the main thing is that you have to do a *full* rescan of plugins (i.e., rescan existing plugins) or it won't update it.

StepD Yeah, I think the main thing is that you have to do a *full* rescan of plugins (i.e., rescan existing plugins) or it won't update it. From what I gather given the recent blog post about scanning on startup that the VST scanner is behaving differently post X1d. I'm wondering if this is the cause of some of the issues that seem to be recently showing up here about plug-ins not being found and indeed this particular issue. The full scan certainly solved this issue and a couple I've come across since. These were my recommendations after installing 'd'. http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2520671

Sorry to bring this back again, but something still not right... Insert an audio track have the QuadCurve EQ turned on make some EQ changes and the Amp mod below or above EQ turned on, then set the peak reduction to around 30 then right click on the PC and use "set modules as default for tracks" Then insert a new audio track. Setting are not saved on EQ or AMP, even without AMP mod in the chain EQ settings are not saved. Also click in AMP mod and see it reset again. Even with concrete Limiter settings are not saved.

Setting "modules as default for tracks" isn't actually supposed to save the settings for each module, only which ones are assigned to a track by default and their position in PC. To have it save the settings for each module, you'll want to save the track as a track template and insert a new track like that.

As StepD says that's expected. If you want the settings to be there as a default you need to load the preset and then save the whole project as a template.

The folders with GUID's in the name are created during scan time of prochannel modules. One of the extensions for prochannel vst's is the ability to cache "stand-in" art for the plugin. This allows SONAR to display a graphic for the module in the channel strip without actually loading the plugin, thereby saving memory. This scheme allows us to set up a set of PC modules as a default for all tracks or buses, without incurring a memory or CPU hit. i.e. even if you have a hundreds of tracks with default modules ready for use, there is a very low cost. The is actually loaded only when you tweak a control or enable it by clicking the enable button. The cached images are only updated when you do a full rescan or the scanner detects a change in the VST dll itself. In your case you changed a bitmap resource and not the vst dll so SoNAR had no way of knowing that something changed.

All the PC modules that aren't on display are available from the other drop down list. best regards, mike

As Jind mentioned in another post, Mike has an insatiable need to pop in to PC threads to point out badly designed the whole concept really is, in any way possible. Despite the fact that few (any?) find Mike's *opinion* on PC relevant, when it's working so well (and efficiently) for so many. Mike really seems to be a fairly intelligent individual with a good level of audio engineering knowledge - he's shown that many times, as in the current M/S thread. So to each his own, everyone's entitled to an opinion, and all that. But geez, sometimes it's best to hang up the agenda and just move on.

I agree, I think Mike has much to add to many topics and find I've learned things I did not know from many of his past entries, I just can't fathom being so against something (that many find a benefit from) that I would feel compelled to engage in debate about it's usefulness with regularly. If I don't use something, so be it. I don't use Beatscape and I'm pretty sure I've never posted in a thread about it or railed against it's inclusion in Sonar. Why? Because I DON'T USE IT.
