* WARNING * - Do NOT install new iLok software!
Not sure if anyone has seen this but does not look good :( From the GS website: [link=http://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-computers/844460-warning-do-not-install-new-ilok-software.html]http://www.gearslutz.com/...new-ilok-software.html[/link] Do NOT synchronize your iLok(s)! iLok (PACE) performed a database update this weekend that *invalidated* a significant number of VALID permanent licenses. This issue affects thousands of users. If you install the latest iLok software, and/or synchronize your iLok(s), you risk losing permanent licenses - they will be converted to "Temporary". Software with "Temporary" licenses will NOT AUTHORIZE, and CANNOT BE USED! DO NOT INSTALL THE LATEST SOFTWARE. DO NOT SYNCHRONIZE ANY OF YOUR iLOKS. Licenses from the following companies are known to be affected: • Abbey Road • Antares • Avid (Pro Tools) • Celemony (Melodyne) • Eventide • Flux • McDSP • Slate Digital • Sonnox • SoundToys • Waves iLok (PACE) is aware of this issue.

Probably because it is a software issue not an X1/X2 issue.

Post from Gearslutz- "According to their statement on the debacle...the Temporary status is just a label thing and plugs should still work. Unless its disingenuous
---------------------------------------------------------------------- We are aware that some people are experiencing issues with a subset of their existing licenses reporting to be of Type “Temporary”. The Type is only a database label and the change from the previous Type (most often Update) resolve over the course of the next several days as a data migration remediation continues.
The change in the word shown as the Type should not in any way affect your ability to use your plug-ins or protected software authorized by licenses that are already on your iLok(s).
Rest assured that we have records of all of your license data just as it was before the migration started. No data or licenses will be lost. "

Big datacenters back things up daily, especialy before any new evolution. In my experience, major changes occur in the dead of the night, and major problems might not show up till the users log in the following day. Staff can be lethargic after a long night, but by the second day, repairs or workarounds are largely implemented.

I use iLok for Nexus 2 but have never experienced any issues. There's always a chance I might lose it, though.

Oh, I don't know the difference between the two. In short, what's the difference and why do you hate dongles?
