I wouldn't think so. I just hope they keep the same format as we have now, not a cloud-based system. For me, that's a no-show. What I see on the existing bandlab site is more gimmicky software and not something I could use. We have to learn from what happened with Gibson and their online authentication leaving us all high and dry with very poor communication or updates from them. It seemed to me we as customers didn't really matter? We bought the software but if the web servers were not there tomorrow we are all screwed. These servers seem to be part of the sale so we should be ok now? So Bandlab keep the same format with updates at a reasonable price not like what Avid is doing and losing customers in their droves. I doubt the sonar users who went for Lifetime updates will be part of the deal. For me, I can live with that a long as they deliver a good stable product to users. The underlying sonar engine is the problem with sonar at the moment and it requires an update of notes. I am a PreSonus Studio 3 user and love the product so if bandlab meet the expectations I will be staying with them as well.

IMO, the difference between Gibson and Bandlab is Gibson's priority was guitars whereas Bandlab's was an "all-in one-social music creation platform". Now that they have acquired Cakewalk, the "meat & potatoes/profits" are in Sonar. I'm guessing the "gimmicky" software will be dropped and replaced by Sonar.

So, the GAS is overhyped?

We don't own anything. We have bought a license to use Sonar Platinum which we still have. Whatever comes next is a new company with a new product, and I would expect a new price.

Exactly, I still can't believe how many people aren't aware that they don't "own" Sonar.

Meng said: our steadfast goal is that former SONAR owners (of all versions) will not need to spend any money to cross-over/cross-grade to the future flagship product.
