Hi Tim, I am actually working on an update to my SONAR X3 Power book. So, if you would like to get started, you could get the X3 Power book now and then purchase the update when it is ready. The update will only include new feature coverage, so the X3 Power book still has a lot of relevant information for SONAR Platinum. Keep an eye on my website for future announcements... http://www.garrigus.com/ Thanks! Scott http://www.garrigus.com/

Hey Scott. I finally decided to buy SonarX3 Power but then thought it best to wait for an update. I understand you don't set the prices on these things but, do you have any idea what an update would cost from SonarX3 Power to the new edition, when it's available.

Hey Scott. Good to see you are busy with the update. My question. Will the update (s) be a printed book or a PDF type release? You had indicated an electronic version in the past. Best Clint

Hey Clint, At the moment, the plan is for eBook format. Of course, if enough people scream about it, I'll look into print as well. But print will cost more. Which format do you like better? Thanks! Scott http://www.garrigus.com/

In order to keep up with Cake's new model you're almost forced to go electronic. Print could be too slow.

+1 on the eBook format. I don't have many paper books left. Printing at home may be relatively cheaper than it was in the past but then again my wife prints reams of documents (she's a Realtor). I should own stock in Epson (Hmm, maybe she does I don't know it).

Thanks for the opinions, guys! I appreciate it. A few things I like about eBooks over print... * you only have to purchase one copy, but you can put it on all of your devices including Android, iOS, PC, Mac, etc. * the eBook has the ability to be searched. No more hunting around in an index. Just type in a keyword or search phrase and find what you need. * the size of the type can be adjusted to your liking. So if you have trouble seeing small print, no problem. With the eBook, just resize the text. * links included in the eBook can be clicked to automatically launch a web browser. No more typing http://www... Scott http://www.garrigus.com/

+1 ebook. Losing the tactile touchiness and the casual pleasure of flipping though the pages of an actual book is a bummer. But the convenience of Kindle access on rack computer, laptop, or iPad makes it worthwhile. Thanks Scott.

I'll bet this informal survey would have been different just a few years ago. eBooks are really taking off. In 2011 sales were about 2.1 billion US dollars. This year it is expected to hit 6.7 Billion, just 4 years later.

I'd rather have a hard copy but the pace of change is so rapid that we are making them a waste of resources.

Another advantage of printing your own is that you can put things in a binder and only replace pages that change. You can also just print what you find useful. I've never touched an e-book, so I'm presuming you can print them out.

Thanks for the additional opinions, guys! Just to clarify, you don't need an eBook reader (like the Amazon Kindle) to actually read eBooks. Amazon provides free reader apps (programs) that can run on just about any device. So you can read an eBook on your PC, Mac, Android device, iOS device, etc. Just in case anyone didn't know... Scott, I like your idea of doing an ebook update just for the new features. I really think that this is a good way to proceed in the future. Until a major redesign of the interface would require a whole new way of approaching tasks in Sonar then a major revision/edition would be useful. Also, I think this gives Scott a the ability to perhaps go further in depth on a topic (hint, hint) that might have been tough to add to a complete guide (from A-Z as it were) and still be able to have it in a paper version that a publisher would indeed publish. I think many of us would be up for paying for a few smaller but in more depth ebooks on specific topics for a reasonable price. Instead of taxing Scott in trying to build it from the ground up and play catch up. Users could pick and choose the things they would want to focus on. I do not know if Scott is bound by any contract that might not allow alternatives such as this... Just some thoughts.

I picked up Scott`s X3 ebook 2 evenings ago. It was my 1st Kindle book. Even though you cannot print, it`s now on my tablet, 3 phones, 2 PCs and I can access a Kindle player anywhere. Still, I wish I could print out my favorite sections. No big deal though. I am anxious for the updated Platinum stuff. (there is an app to print, I did not want to install it, 3rd party apps stuff) Thanks Scott, love your books--

You can't print directly from the Kindle program, but you can copy selections into Word or Notepad and then then print. Or highlight a section, then go to http://kindle.amazon.com, and log in using your Amazon account info. Click on "Your Highlights" near the top of the screen. Then copy the section and paste into a Word document (or something similar) and print. Not as convenient as printing directly but helpful.

Hi Scott. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, but here goes.... an Ebook sounds good, as long as I could print it all, or parts of it. If not, then a PDF would be my choice as I find it easier to read a printed page. My eyes get tired trying to keep up with words on a screen, even with two 27" monitors. At 63, I prefer to have a binder for the manual, or updated pages, to read. Thanks, Clint

Our family has been big E reader fans since the first Kobo came out. My wife is on her 3 version, the Kobo Glow, She can read in bed without keeping me awake! I have a Aluratek reader that reads most formats. My Daughter has Kindle. We find E books easier on the eyes and the pocket book. You sign up for e mails and there are always new books on sale for as low as $4.00. There are zillions of free books and the public library lends them out. Everybody who uses an E book should also use Calibre. http://calibre-ebook.com/ Calibre will convert and manage your books without all the bullsitting that the Kobo manager does, you can use Calibre to read any format as well. I have Scotts kindle X1 book and it covers a lot that is still relevant. The update will be excellent for me. I open it n my laptop while learning something new. http://calibre-ebook.com/

Hey Colin... no, unfortunately not.. at least not on Kindle. You can blame the publisher for that. They were supposed to be working with Amazon to make it happen, but I doubt it will at this point. Sorry about that. It is available as an eBook in some other formats though. I have the links up on my site. Thanks! Scott http://www.garrigus.com/

eBOOK is the future and the future is now so get use to them. I do love having a book though. The tablet , at least, lays flat on the desk so that's a plus. I had always hoped to see a looseleaf binder with updates to put in when available but looks doubtful. I would have paid a good amount for that and updates.
