I actually like the looks of the arrangement tools they put together. Highlight a section of the timeline call it something like chorus. Then you just drag and drop, copy or paste the named section. It moves everything that sits on that portion of the timeline. Very nice.

It sounds like their sampler will run kontakt libraries pre version 5. Perfect for Bitflipper.

If the upgrade price is NOT $49, I'm not in for this one.

Probably $99 or $149?

I'll try the demo first before I decide.
I just hope the audio engine is still the same. Snappy as hell & one of its best features.

upgrade purchase, download, install/activation just took me less than 3 minutes! (not including the new content, that's still downloading)
the core app is only a 90 meg download...
it picked up and migrated all my settings from v2
i loaded the last track i was working on in v2 and it just works
some lessons could be learned i think...

I just watched the live event.  Scratchpad and Arranger are great tools.  There's nothing there that would make me do the slow motion run into their arms, however.  I've always loved their Mastering Suite though...

I'll save my $149.95 upgrade fee towards Harrison MixBus 3. And I'll probably have $100.95 left over.

MB3 is the tool I'm looking forward to. Not so much for it's DAW features but when it's out as 64bit I can finally eliminate all 32bit plugs from my system and use it for final mix/master on that Harrison console.

me too, though i've already been pure x64 for about 5 years now! at least, i seem to recall it was around the time just before live8 did their x64 beta cause i was thinking i'd have to let that go so what to do with the apc40? is that 5 years yet?

I think the DAW is going to be a real success. Well done PreSonus, and congratulations S1 users.
I wouldn't have ditched it if they had released this a year ago.

After an exceptionally quick and easy demo install, when I opened a project I thought I'd mistakenly downloaded Logic X.  :-)

Some cool new features and content, but the upgrade price -- $149 for the Professional version, if I'm reading it right -- doesn't exactly make it a no-brainer, does it?  No worries ... there will undoubtedly be a sale in due course.

Like Bapu, I'm really looking forward to the next version of Harrison Mixbus.  Hopefully it'll be a little more stable than the current one.

Cheers,
Eddie

interesting isn't it? As a new user I'd think S1 would get a lot of support. Now i'm invested in Splat and RapPro i'll be staying, but I have Notion 4 and the ease which that integrates into S1 is very tempting (esp given ReWire is, erm...)

While I may upgrade to v3 eventually, I am definitely going to wait for now.  Studio One is my alternate to Sonar Platinum.  To be honest, Studio One 2 is working great for me when I choose to use it, and for now I do not have a need to upgrade.  Like others here, I am more interested in Mixbus 3 and will spend money on it first.

Hmmm, going purely on appearance it looks so much nicer than Sonar, but........

having never tried it, can anyone tell me if it is possible to have the console view on it's own on a second screen ? I see that the marketing blurb says it supports mulitple monitors, but I didn't see anything showing how it can be laid out. I can't stand having track view and console view it all squashed onto one screen, so not being able to do so would rule it out for me straight away.

You have always been able to do it. You just float the mixer out of the dock and drag to where ever you want including a second monitor.

Actaully on  27" screen it is so well designed you don't need two screens. It is so easy to show/hide the mixer with just one keystroke.

New version is very good. An amazing program has just got seriously better. Rock solid too.

FX Chains in the way they are done, AND!!! the multi synth control on a single track is a major jump forward.

Downloading the demo which I had no interest in before because of the limitation on multi synths, same as Sonar.

If it gets much better than this, will have to even retire Reaper. The flexibility of ver 3 in this aspect is now state of the art without having to resort to third party help. Presonus moved to the head of the pack overnight.

Anybody know if the authorization is online activation or if it is a simple key code or serial like Sonar.

You can use it on 5 machines and authorize and deauthorize. At least that's the way it was with v2.

Actually, you can tint it to a bunch of different shades.  You can also increase or decrease contrast which is very important for very "experienced" eyes.
