Personally, I'd be less inclined to pay for a plugin that was just a few text input boxes.

Take Waves C1. Great compressor still one of the best out there. And easy to use. Looks like a cross between Win3.1/95 stuff! LOL 😁 I still use it and gravitate to it. And as long as it keeps working I will continue to use it. The best UI updates has to be Melda. All plugs under same UI. Update one, update all. They just don't look the best. But they have more options than anyone for UI.

I saw a project where they had updated all of Waves UI's...and MAN..they looked GREAT. Sadly, they were just a "mock" UI to show how they could be improved...(see below) Of course they work...we all know they work...but, UI's like the L1, L2, L3, etc...and all those other plugins are just bleck.... YES...they work great...and obviously no effect on "functionality", BUT, with many they are less then "user friendly", and they actually LOOK HORRENDOUS. They work, and work well, but they LOOK TEDIOUS AND HORRENDOUS! It's kinda like saying "YES that girl over there will serve the purpose, because, after all, it's just a face, but it still does the job...but, when you look at a "nice one" you are far more inclined to say (and feel) "WOW", and the chance of "enjoying the experience" is far greater! Crude but effective "analogy"... We are visual by nature, and if something is "aesthetically appealing" we are far more inclined to be "responsive" to it... Tell me you wouldn't much rather "work" with these - I know I would here's the project page https://www.behance.net/g...edesign-Thesis-Project

I don't care about Waves UIs. OTOH, my sims of 1960s amps had better have a GUI that shines like Optimus Prime's taint, or I'm not using it!! - LOL!

RSMCGUITAR They could def upgrade some GUIs
I couldn't agree more...
Also, GTR needs an overhaul...very dated...
I agree. Amp section is kind of meh and I'm not very fond of "pedals". Nice IRs, though.

The GTR bass amp's not bad as these things go. Very light on cpu as well.
As for Waves and WUP I've a couple of V9 plugs that aren't covered by WUP which updated to 9.whatever it is OK.

Great UI ideas. Unfortunately some developers at Waves think A LITTLE different: Every time I see this thing I think it will bite me. And I swear I saw it blinking in at least one occasion.

Now... serious... I don't know how hard it would be but I think they could put some option in plugins with this "unconventional" interfaces for users to get the plain simple sliders, buttons and textboxes. Even the standard windows controls would be acceptable IMO. There are cases where I liked the interface (f.i. IM Pusher), cases where I thought the interface was "acceptable" (f.i. Scheps Parallel Particles) and this one. It can even be the best vocal plugin ever made but I simply cannot see me using it. I know... it's the sound that matters but... anyway. I said this to Waves in the recent $10 coupon/survey.

I didn't update yet because I was afraid of being WUPPED. It now looks as if the coast is clear until the storm hits. I'll update if it's free. If and when the V10 storm comes I'll need to see what it costs to be WUPPED. If I can get plug ins in that cost about the same with lifetime updates...enter Melda, I doubt I'll go any further. Melda's UI takes some getting used to, however I like them overall for sheer detail. Sometimes way more detail than I need. Since iZotope started allowing a user to load separate plugs AND use chains that opens up some more options for mixers. If Waves are smart they will make a sweet WUP deal or loose customers. I'm not paying for my Waves Plug ins twice. Maybe throw in a few free plug ins with a WUP, offer more varied WUP options...or sink. Mainly because there are plugs as good or better competing.
