I have the feeling that this plugin follows the trend of "esoteric" plugin like Microshift from Soundtoys, Dimension D...

smallstonefan I'm looking forward to playing with the demo of this one. :) http://www.waves.com/plugins/reel-adt
Let us know if it's better than this free one.
I've messed with this one a few times for fun. Works as expected. It just doesn't have a fancy GUI - which can sometimes be preferable, anyway...

But it doesn't have pretty knobs and say "Waves" with a Sine Wave "W" on it...that immediately makes it useless

No fancy GUI, but it's endorsed by a well-known Las Vegas entertainer. No, it's neither Sigfried nor Roy.

It's a lot of fun to double track vocals...I could see where you might want this for a paying client to save time, but I would rather sing the part.

I dunno, ol' pal. I've got a black belt in lazy, too. But I refuse to use fake double-tracking unless it's a down-in-the-mix BGV or something. I've been wondering about which Beatles songs the original ADT was actually used on. I'm thinking it might have been a small minority.

If I sang both parts it would still be the same "bad" vs. using a tool to do it. Bad is as bad does.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_double_trackingActually it was on more than you'd think. And for more fx than just "double tracking". And by more folks than just The Beatles. It's a fairly useful tool. But useful is as useful does. And life is like a box of chocolates. PS: I do most all of my "feaux" double tracking with Melodyne. It works a treat.

To do the Beatles it would have to have a slider to set how many wrong words are sung per song.

I enjoyed that read. It does confirm that ADT was used on a minority of Beatles songs after Revolver. I'd always thought the double-tracking on "I'm Looking Through You" sounded kinda weird. Now I know why. Best thing I got out of that article was that ADT was used on the Hammond in "Let it Be". I'd always assumed it was two unsynchronized Leslies.

Just curious, how is ADT (besides the vanity names) different than VX-64's Doubler?

I believe VX-64's doubler uses delays rather than pitch-shifting. I suspect Waves' Doubler is closer to what ADT does, but I could be wrong because why do the same effect twice? I mean, they only have one compressor and one equalizer, right?
