As do I. Will the new installer work with them (9.2) or do you need to download the new plugins as well? And if so will all your 9.2 plugs work even if non-WUPed??

While I wouldn't recommend doing this yet just to get the rack plugin, after I ran the WOLI install of the latest plug version (r19) -- which it says you need in order for the rack to work -- I can still use all my Waves plugs, even the non-WUP ones. But be careful ... still seems to be a risky move. Barczar This is awful. How do I roll back and get rid of this mess. Lost all my Waves plugins.
I had to re-run the WOLI install for the r19 plugs with the "repair" option after going through it the first time. If that fails, there's an uninstall option in there as well, after which you can try a re-install. Good luck! Cheers, Eddie

I think I'm going to stay away from this one. If it is messing up this bad on VSTs, no telling what it will do to AAX plugs.

It's tucked away safely on my hd. I'll just continue waiting. I can certainly live without it. As much as I like most of my WAVES stuff this has certainly been a cockup of the first order.

woah been out of town ... alot of movement lol ... Guyz simply before anything : BACK UP with waves since it cncernns a majority of my plugins i'm like "milk on fire" with them !!! always last in install process ;) So in this case , seems according to feeback in GS that the last installer solve a lot of issues (issues mainly with PT) ... Again for those that want to try : BACK up ! first .... in person i will try on a old laptop ...;) even with back up !!

Just to follow up to my earlier note about getting StudioRack to work in Harrison Mixbus, after running another VST scan it suddenly started working there in a limited way -- I can't bring up a plugin's GUI within the rack, but I can define a chain in another DAW like Sonar, assign controls to the rack's knobs, etc., save it to the preset menu, then within Mixbus I can load that preset with the controls assigned like I wanted. Neat! Even if you can't add non-Waves plugins to this rack (still unclear on this point), this might be a useful tool for those who work with Waves plugins in multiple DAWs. Now, if only Waves could simplify their plugin architecture ... Cheers, Eddie

The ability to add other plugins is supposed to be forthcoming according to Gattai at Waves...

Is there a desperate need for something like this if one only uses Sonar? What can this do for Sonar that Sonar can't do itself?

Nah, the Sonar FX Chain feature does the same thing. The Waves version is a little nicer graphically I think, and the Add Plugin menu gives you all your Waves plugins nicely organized by function. Other than that, until it's possible to load other vendors' VSTs into the rack I'd stick with Sonar's thing. Cheers, Eddie Edit: some have reported lower CPU usage when running Waves plugins in the rack. If so, that would be a reason to try it if you're running a lot of CPU-hungry Waves stuff.

I haven't tried it but I'm guessing it would be good for putting together plug in chains that you could use an several DAW programs. If the AAX version would host VSTs inside of it, it would be cool to use as a VST wrapper for Pro Tools 11 and then drop the same chain it Studio One or SONAR. I'm currently using Blue Cat's MB 7 Mixer to wrap VSTs but some of them feel dicey in that environment.

Nice video ..i really wished Waves would have aloowed to reame the instance name on the fX bin ..having Studio Rack all other the place isn't informative unless you open it !

Exactly! I like looking at a console view and having an Eagle's eye view of the plugins that I am using in a project. Sometimes I use an EQ ahead of a compressor or behind a compressor. Then I might have two EQs on each side of a compressor. I hate having to click on a button or a hot key to see why a track sounds the way it does. I don't like the Prochannel concept so I use FX bins and the same will be in effect for the Waves Rack as well as the Slate Digital VMR when it comes out.
