That first link is dead.  Maybe it is this:  http://www.waves.com/soundgrid-studio-system

In any case, thanks as always even though I doubt I will get it.

I had one registered to my account and downloaded the WOLI as instructed but have not installed or activated.  I need to know if it will work with all my existing WAVES plugs, only my WAVES plugs still under WUP or must I re-WUP to get it to run.  Once I know that I'll decide if I need it or not.

    Ok...link in OP is fixed...

It has a separate installer (see above)
it's only compatible with V9.19 plugins....

It looks like waves is cutting into the UAD market with Studio Grid. It looks quite impressive. What I find very cool about it is that you can connect, I think it's 8, computers to one grid and route any DAW to any other DAW. I'm not positive on this but I think you can go from Mac to PC or even Linux.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

As of this point, it's a bust...I can't get it to see the License,
even though The License Center says it's installed...

I even sent the License to the Cloud and brought it back again
    same message

Waves StudioRack does not have a license...please check that
you have a valid license and click "re-scan licenses"

blah blah blah ...waste of time...Waves...blah blah blah...

What I can't quite understand is, if it is a Native Plugin, why does it not use
the the same WOLI that the other plugins use...

It might just be exlusive to HD or DigiGrid systems, and THEN it can use the
Host DAW and CPU if so selected..but that's not real clear in the description,
as it says you can use it a Host DAW Natively...

I just tried it in Cubase 7.5 and it worked...

Hmmmmm...the Compatibility Grid says it's compatible with X3e....but it wouldn't load...

    more research...LOL

Ok...got it to work in X3e....

Had to click Skip on the first time the "No License" message came up
and then it loaded after that...did the same in Cubase...

    Something still not right there...

John, I have to say you are correct.  There are virtually NO instructions whatsoever.
I had to dig to find the installer...

I guess they want to see if you want it bad enough...LOL

I loaded several plugins in and the CPU hit seemed to be less then just a plugin by itself...
which seems odd to me...not that it's a bad thing...

Well, we'll see if it's of any benefit...at least the price was right...LOL

Re: Waves Studio Rack 2014/07/23 18:21:22 (permalink)
    Well, that was a PITA.

After running the StudioRack installer, I dutifully ran WOLI to upgrade my plugs to v9r19 just as I was told.  What I didn't expect was that it would take the better part of an hour to run the update ... usually it takes less than five minutes.

After that I noticed the same licensing bug in Studio One that Larry reported in X3, but once you click "Skip" it seems to work OK.  Nifty variation of the Sonar FX chain thing, even though I'm not sure how to get other vendors' plugs in there ... the video implies that this might be possible.

Anyway, I then opened a project in Harrison Mixbus.  Hey, what happened to all my Waves plugs?  Nowhere to be found, and could no longer find them in the plugin menu.

Re-ran WOLI with the "repair" option (took about ten minutes that time) and Mixbus was back to normal, but I had to recover the project from backup since Mixbus had decided to save the Waveless version of the project for me.

Couldn't find StudioRack in Mixbus, though.  Sure would be nice to have it, since Mixbus doesn't have an FX chain function AFAIK.  But despite several attempts, I never could get it to pass the VST scan -- always got the "Cannot get VST information from blah blah blah" error.

Oh well, at least I'm no worse off now than I was before all this ... but if anyone has managed to get StudioRack to work in Mixbus, please chime in!

    Cheers,
    Eddie

I don't get the hype of Studio Rack. It seems to me all your doing is adding extra CPU usage due to having to run plugins inside a shell. I never liked plugin chains so I don't see the appeal. I think the new Digigrid is cool though.

Hope you all get it sorted.

According to the provided info 9.5 does not contain the StudioRack plugin.
It includes MultiRack, but not StudioRack which is what the thread is about,
and which was just given to us by Waves.

Not sure if you're getting MultiRack confused with StudioRack Zo...
