Waves Tune PLUS Melodyne

I just watched a video over at Groove 3 on vocal production and the instructor used BOTH Waves Tune Real Time AND Melodyne, together, to correct pitch--but it was a little unclear to me which was being used first as an effect.  (I kind of got the impression it was Tune first...but I'm not sure).

Anybody else use this technique of using both?  I supposed I can experiment, but there's no way I could find at Groove 3 to ask this question and was hoping someone here might know.

doesn't do a lot and certainty not as much as can be done in Melodyne alone.

I've seen several mentions of combining these ( Melo + Waves or Melo +AT)
Melo for the heavy lifting tuning, and Waves or Auto Tune for the overt character that they tend to impart.
There may be something to that for pop hit type songs.

As an aside, on quickie projects I've thrown Waves Real Time over the track and just spot tuned sections that it doesn't get right in Melodyne. It's a very down and dirty way to tune it quickly. 10-15 min you've got a very passable track. For anything real, Melodyne alone should get you there with optimal results.
