OK, I'll say that if/when I do plop down 2.5 Benjamins (Dec 8th of this year, 2012) and get nothing for the whole year I might be a tad upset. But given that I own Mercury and very little (if anything at all) is NOT included, I would expect that I should see at least two new plugs a year with a street value of $500 or so. That might make me feel OK about being WUPped.

Thanks for that Carl. Yeah, I expect that some years could be lean. But others may be over the top too. They gotta feed the pipeline for new customers too (be it bundles or individuals) else they go under, roight?

They're out to make money, no doubt & their methods can be confusing for sure. They're tricky little devils.

Anything can and will be cracked anyway. The only difference is that people like me, who've refused to buy anything protected by iLock, will now consider Waves when shopping for plug-ins.

I don't know how many times in the last year alone I decided to pass on Waves - sometimes in favor of similar but more expensive solutions - just because of iLock. Anytime that happened, I let them know.

I'm with you, Krist.  This is welcome news to me.

    Kind regards,

The thing is, you don't have to do WUP until you need/want to. I went for years on my Platinum bundle without wupping, everything worked fine. Then when they came out with the kramer tape emulation plug, I decided I wanted it. Found out I needed to up my WUP to get it - ended up getting a bunch of new plugs for my WUP money - the Neve stuff, PuigTec, etc... It was a pleasant surprise, actually.

Wonder how much this "update" is gonna cost...especially for folks (like me, for instance) who have several Version 7 plugs and several Version 8 plugs and who's WUP is non-existant???  I've always loved them using that acronym as it pretty much sums up what they've been trying to do to you...WUP up on ya;-)

Log into your Waves account and click the WUP link. It will tell you the cost to WUP your products. I think I read it will never be more than $200 to WUP no matter how old your WUP is. It's about $75 to WUP Waves Gold. I hope V9 comes out before WUP time for me.
