OK you were right. They were hidden becuase of the laptops small screen. 
 
I just told my son about Bandlab as he was contemplating which DAW to try. He hasn't looked into any of this as he's way more a live player and not interested in recording. But he has just teamed up with a new group of folks who have been writing originals. He bought a Behinger x18 to use as an interface. 
So I'll ask him if he's installed it yet.
