I didn't install the hotfix or x2a update yet.  is that dangerous?

I would use it just as is for a while first then install the updates. That's what I did and she's running nicely.

i think i need to watch a video or two on the new features in x2- there must be one, no?

I only watched this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xw5z9BKWD-I

The new 'key highlight' feature shown at 24:30 of the above video disappeared from my Sonar (Essential) after X2a install. I contacted Cakewalk but couldn't recover it.

Also, the "New SONAR X2 Get Started Video" (third thread in the Sonar forum) says it's been update on 2/19 (I haven't watched it yet).

yeah, I just watched that "transition" one.  That is a GREAT video.  I have a session at 4 and I'm actually feeling excited to take it for a spin.  lol- watch it crash and burn on me!

I have to say that the absolute best part of the whole Sonar experience from 7 thru Producer X2a for me is this forum and the helpful members of it.  A big thank you!

I agree that this forum and its members are a huge benefit.

As far as SONAR, I went from 8.5 to X2 and the experience has been a life changer. The power and the included plugins have always been a given plus, but for me, work flow suffered when sizing, resizing, opening, closing, moving windows made the experience more tiring than it should have been. I was constantly chanting, "Where is that friggin' window...? I need another monitor...".  The X(*) interface changed all that.  AutoZoom, Smart Tool, Track Lanes, Screen Sets, Docking and, of course, the ProChannel strip have all made so much sense to me and made my sessions a lot more enjoyable. Now, instead of another monitor, I'm thinking a single, bigger monitor would do it for me :-)
