What X2a features do you like the best?
Only post what you like about X2a not what you don't like or wish it to have. No negative posts please. You can start a thread of your own for the things you dislike about X2a. I'll start off by saying I like the overall look of X2a. Other DAW's aren't as dimentional. The faders and knobs look like real faders and knobs and kinda pop out. It's not one dimentional. I like the fact that I can have all plugins in the PC and keep the effects bins uncluttered. For me it's very straight forward and easy to use. Everything in track and console view is easily accessible and even easyer if you know the keyboard shortcuts. I think I like having the actual instrument icon on a track than a color. That's it for now. I'm simple.

I'm hooked on track autozoom. It's a great feature and easy to get used to. Before autozoom I was always dragging the edges of track lanes and sometimes accidentally missing and dragging the track instead. (Yes, I blame myself for the poor mouse aiming, but now it's one less thing to blame myself for.)

That's it for now. I'm simple. Best thing with X2. * New automation lanes, copy and paste or other automation works perfect. * Pro Channel FXs bin (FXs bin inserted in Pro Channel), * You can make your own "Pro channel modules" with own skin from your VST plugins. * Even better Performance and CPU enhancements compared to X1. X1 that was great too by the way. * Reworked Skylight, now even better, snappier and clearer graphic. * The use of the graphic GPU and GPU coded for the NVIDIA/ ATI chip has increased a lot. Making a pleasant experience working with the GUI interface. No glitch of audio change screenset or whatever. * The second SNAP setting keycommand = "n" That was some of the new nice features... Best regards Freddie

PRV CHANGES,just auesome. i love that all i have to do is click and barely drag to the left to insert a note now. where before i had to change different notes/sizes velocity's,i can do easily with "last note touched". AUTOZOOM-god.what was i doing before i had it? great feature,i barely touch snap settings anymore. THE PRO CHANNEL-Too many features to list that i think have been improved. its not x1's prochannel anymore, its auesome. probably one of thee best- FX CHAINS= if you havent got in to the fx chains yet,you have no idea what your missing. i have set up automation to turn of different things that were not possible before in x1. customization of chains is endless. probably the most un-noticed- RIGHT CLICK LASSO- need i say more,in prv, track view, another feature i dont know what i would do without.

I like the fact that just spinning a track widget such as vol pan sends mute and solo does not select the track like it used to. Keeps your prochannel you be working on in focus. Even though this really caused be to have to re-code a bunch of my bcr2000 control surface plugin as it messed up alot of the logic in there thats all right 'cause it's all good now. I like auto track zoom too. Something I've wanted for a long time.

There are so many seemingly small enhancements to X2 that add up to a huge improvement for me. A few are:- Track auto zoom Timeline zoom and scroll - brilliant Right click Lasso - took me a while to get used to it, but it's SO handy Improved audio engine - as close to gapless as I need Take Lanes - love them Automation lanes Breverb - love it - use it all the time Console emulation - ditto PC FX chains - fantastic. I rarely use the FX bin now, and really helps with signal flow Multiple instances of PC modules - great for signal flow again Blank FX chains - very handy for gain staging (especially now with the Console Emus) I also just like the way it looks - it may not seem important, but I have to stare at it for long periods at a time.. I'm sure there are many more, these are just off the top of my head. Since the quickfix, and then X2a, it has also been rock solid for me. Thanks for posting this thread and letting people share their positive experiences.

A few others I like. Track folders. I use them a lot. The mix module The ease of creating templates Automation lanes Control over the input of a track. (Input gain knob) Very easy to create a well laid out effects layout.

John Replace synth. Thanks for reminding me of that one, John. There are certain things that I don't use that often, but I'm so grateful for them when I do. I also think that R Mix could be a great tool, but I've just not had the time to devote to it. Watching Noel's blog has indicated how handy it could be, though. Any more suggestions here that can remind me of any more improvemnts? P.S. I don't work for Cakewalk..

So far there seems to be a lot to like about X2a. It's nice to see what features people use the most and what is improving thier workflow. There are features mentioned here that I wasn't aware of and am egar to try now. I'm not a power user so this is helpfull for me.

I'd have to say the Console Emulation. Craig Anderton's video explaining how to use it more effectively greatly improved my experience with it. I've gone back and remixed a few old projects from scratch and added in the CE and I really like it.

One thing haven't ever said about Sonar is how well it integrates with my gear. This is not so much a feature, though I think it is the most important one, its that I start up the DAW after flipping a switch to turn my rack and Sonar just loads all the support files and my system is ready to go. For some this is not an important consideration. To me its why I use Sonar.

This is a hard question to answer really because although there have been things added in X2a specifically such as Window's 8 support (kind of surprised no one has mentioned touch screen support), I think it's worth mentioning the things that have been fixed from X1 that aren't new, but work so much better now. One new feature is 384kHz support. I don't know who on Earth uses it, or what hardware even supports it, but it's cool it's there.

The little things all add up[ to make a difference for me. Autozoom, Smart grid, the improvements to the automation 'mode' of the smart tool, secondary snap, even the intensity checker in preferences and more. Of course if we're talking about the changes since 8.5 it's a one word answer, er........ dare I say.....Screensets.

Wow- i just installed x2 two days ago and didnt even use it yet. now i'm kinda psyched to to dig in. i learned alot from these posts. i think i need to watch a video or two on the new features in x2- there must be one, no? btw, one of my engineers, Zak did a session yesterday and i told him he was welcome to use x2 if he wanted- i made no guarantee that it would run well, and said if you dont like it, open x1e again. He text me halfway through the session that he (and the client) were loving x2. i doubt he used any new features, but he loved the look and solid feel of it. this client has huge projects and zak said they ran smoother in x2. I didn't install the hotfix or x2a update yet. is that dangerous?
