What are .WOV and .WTR files?
A few weeks ago.... actually I think it has been since I've picked up a new audio interface (but I"m not sure) I noticed that in my Cakewalk Projects folder it has been getting populated with .WOV and .WTR files Things like this My project folders are above in the Window and then below the project folders are all these annoying files that look like this: Rock1--Audio--Rec--10--1ca9bb23be4423f.WOV Rock1--Audio--Rec--10--1ca9bb23be4423f.WTR Rock1--Track-4--Mix--53--1ca9bea082535d1.WOV Rock1--Track-4--Mix--53--1ca9bea082535d1.WTR

I think the WOV and WTRfiles are the pictures of your audio clips that you see in your track view, and should belong in your picture cache

Just to tack on what little I know about it: WOV stands for "wave overview". They are not images, but rather decimated versions of your recorded clips, thinned of detail because you don't need to include every sample in the picture to get a reasonable high-level view. For very low-level views, SONAR switches from WOV files to chart the actual samples. (Try this for fun: rename a WOV to .WAV and import it into a SONAR project as an audio file. This will demonstrate that they are indeed wave files, but with most of the detail removed they don't sound like the original waves they were derived from.)
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

I didn't know this - this seems a bit scary for a couple of reasons .... (obviously I am going to do some research) I would have never thought of changing the extension and then doing an import - how do you think up this stuff? Good catch!!!! -D

Ok, what about the WTR? I'd never seen them before, but now that I have used the transient tool there they are in the picture cache, but I hate to assume...

Just guessing, but I'd bet the WTR files are transient markers.
