On the serious side, a very good app is "Instant Heart Rate". It uses the camera on your device to detect your heart rate.

Versions for both Andriod and IOS.

I had a similar app which measured your stress levels the same way. I was skeptical but I tried it when I was stressed out and when I was relaxed and it did a pretty good job of identifying my mood.

I know I definitely won't need an app to guage my stress levels (it automically displays/updates only once a year when the inlaws outlaws visit ).

However, one thing I'm not happy at ll with Android is using Outlook (hotmail).....it has some bug in the App that plainly stops it from updating/syncing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the App multiple times in the last few months, but nothing has changed. It's not like I can just change my email address........looks like I'll have to just wait until there's a fix for this.

I almost entirely use my Android phone for one thing - talking to people on the phone. It sucks at that, unfortunately.

I do, however, have an Android tablet that serves one other function - Minecraft, which I play on a regular basis with my grandkids. These days it feels good to crack a diamond sword over some zombie's head.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I'm about the opposite, I use my Android phone (a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with the awesome stylus) for almost everything.  It's used for phone, GPS, Google searches, weather, sports scores, calculator, shopping app, reading pdf's, taking pictures and videos, streaming my roommate's Dish system, playing solitaire on the toilet - lol.  Lots and lots of uses for me!

I'm pretty sure Gmail works just fine with Android though...lol.

They ended support for Exchange on the iPhone so that you can't have your Gmail's pushed to the iPhone's native mail app anymore. You either have to use Gmail's own app, or (what they're hoping) get an Android phone. They called it their "Winter cleaning" and it came with a bunch of other service cancellations which make using things like Gmail and Google calendars a little more frustrating on non-Android phones.

I wouldn't be surprised if this problem with the Android Outlook app is a deliberate act on Google's part to make life difficult for people using anything non-Google. They want to rule the world, you know.

Completely forgot to include email (used dozens of times every day) and that god-awful texting app!

Me too. I'm on the move all day and I don't know what I'd do without my iPhone. I read books and manuals on it, I shop on it, I partake in all of my forums on it, I research things and read articles and the news on it, and basically catalog everything weird or interesting I see (which in New York is a lot) with photos and videos. I also run my business on it. I've got multiple calendars on the go and am constantly making notes and setting tasks and reminders. Oh and let's not forget Shazam, the app which identifies any song playing in the background. Can't tell you how many times I've been sitting in a coffee shop listening to some great music I've never heard before, and one click of the Shazam button and I'm writing down the artist and title, searching for it on Spotify and downloading the whole album to my phone.

Hmm...  Never heard of Shazam.  I've always used SoundHound which does the same thing.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Google actually did that.......
However, I found somewhat of a solution to the updating/syncing issue: In settings, go to the Outlook app and select Clear Cache (not Clear Data) which seemed to have solved my problem. Now, the emails show up immediately as I get them and it does sync.

I remember using Shazam (not the app) music downloader/player about 10 years ago around the same time Napster was popular. I'm still quite happy with PowerAmp and it's good quality of audio options........but, will check out Shazam as well.
