I design guitar strings. I just kind of fell into it. I started by working for my father-in-law at DR Handmade Strings in NJ. I built and ran his factory for 11 yrs. Then I went down to FL for a few years trying to revive the old Black Diamond String brand for Super Sensitive Strings. I've been in the bay area of California for the past 10 years working for Dunlop Mfg., heading their guitar string division. I've now been doing this for over 25 years. I'm going to call that a career.

Well I started out as a Professional student.....and did get my degrees.....two in fact!
This flowed into teaching for a living at the college level and even had my own music school with 25 people working for me....for about 12 years.
Then One of my students convienced me that working at FedEx was the Bomb (boy did he lie....but misery loves company)......
FedEx taught me how to drive big rigs and went from there to having my own rig for about 15 years as you can see...
Then in 2003 I got divoriced, sold the rig, moved to florida and now I work in a county office writing contracts for our department.....I even have one student!!!! Silly me.....
I still write music and fly RC Heli's

Forum proofreader.

But that doesn't pay well so I set aside a couple hours a day for writing database software and patiently instructing distant IT geeks named Jason about network concepts. Yes, they're all named Jason, and they all look like the "I'm a Mac" actor in the Apple commercials, except with tattoos.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I feel like I could design guitar strings. At least, I can draw reeeaaaalllly straight lines.

bitflipper
Forum proofreader.

But that doesn't pay well so I set aside a couple hours a day for writing database software and patiently instructing distant IT geeks named Jason about network concepts. Yes, they're all named Jason, and they all look like the "I'm a Mac" actor in the Apple commercials, except with tattoos.

So, basically, you're here to correct anyone who talks about database rows and remind them that they are called "tuples" instead, ya?

Actually, we're more like an anti-database here with degrees of unnormalization!

Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

Man you guys seems to have a lot of different professions. I'm still just a student trying to decide where I want to go in life. I'm really hoping I can make it in music because I hear from multiple people say I've got talent. That I've got "it" even though most people think they have "it". I'm just in the phase of working on my skills and getting better.

Thought it would be nice to throw ideas around on a dart board to hear other peoples experiences.
