Susan G I can't remember when or where I saw "Star Trek II", but I do remember being transfixed by Ricardo Montalban's chest. I knew even then it wasn't real, but still... I also still remember those creepy crawlies going into Chekov's ear... and coming out again... Was that also when Kirk famously roared "KHAN!", or was that in the TV series? At any rate, I think I've tripped far enough down Memory Lane for one night! The debates continue to this day on whether or not that was Ricardo's real chest! Real or fake, I admit it upstaged half the scenes. And yes, the famous Khaaaaaaaan! roar came from that movie. I still do that sometimes, like when I lock myself out of my car. About the King & I... yup I remember the days when they used to show it on tv all the time (along with the Sound of Music, Willie Wonka and Mary Poppins). I've always wondered what it was like to see those technicolor classics on the big screen, especially since our tv was a tiny thing (with an actual 'clicker' if you remember those). So you & Shelley Brightman did right!

I saw all of the above except Willie Wonka on the big screen. The famous opening scene of the Sound of Music with the panoramic view of Julie Andrews singing on the "hills" was truly breathtaking (and I don't use that word often! ). -Susan

space_cowboy I am surprised that there are not more movies with the word Cheese in it. I think he had to omit the porno titles ... but even then ...

Hi Greg- Raising Arizona. Funny you should mention that one! I remember thinking it was really funny the first time I saw it, and however many years ago that was, I suggested it to my Dad (don't remember who was visiting whom), and it was a disaster. He didn't see the humor in it, I felt uncomfortable because he didn't, and it seemed very unfunny to me upon viewing it a second time with him. That was a long time ago, but I still think from time to time about how who I see (or hear) something with affects my perception of it. I know it shouldn't, and it does so less now, but I never felt the same about Raising Arizona after that. Maybe I should watch it again (alone! ). Thanks- -Susan

CreatingNoise Phantasm "Boyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!" I normally don't go for horror flicks, but Phantasm was amazing. It has a vibe like no other flick I've ever seen (like a horror, scifi, comedy, surrealistic art-flick wrapped into one). Phantasm IV was pretty incredible, too. You gotta love a movie where the hero is a bald ice cream man, kicking dwarf zombie butt. There's also a really good performance by Angus Scrimm (this time he says a lot more than just "boyyyyyyyyyyyy"). Susan, I know the feeling you're talking about; that's why I never watch movies with my parents if I like the movie a lot. Must be a generation thing; they just don't get it unless it's pre-1970. Btw, I just got thru watching the (original) Manchurian Candidate again. Wow. Now I'm not so sure about my endorsement of the remake. How can anything possibly come close to this? The 'garden party' dream scene is one of the best moments in cinema--I had forgotten all about that.
