I had one of these ...



Spent hours and hours programming animated graphics scenes on it ... line by line, pixel by pixel. I still have them backed up on cassette.

They call those Animated GIF's now and can be made with a few clicks of a mouse. :-)

I also wrote a program on it that allowed me to use the QWERTY keyboard as a crude piano keyboard for the built in FM synth.

Hah, TI 99/4A, was my first computer, still have it somewhere, along with a HUUGE 40MB  harddrive :D I also had the speech synth thing you can see on the side, sounds exactly like Stephen Hawking.

Browser.. Opera, always works.

Resonant Order


Ad Block Plus is an add-on for Chrome. I use it in all my browers. And, it's free.

Chrome is sand-boxy the way Firefox is. You just need to tweak it.

Same here. I also use IE Tab for when I need to go to a site that doesn't work with Chrome. 
So far that's only been the iLok site.

Wow! You are really in to the TI-99/4a.

I had the Speech Module and cassette backup, didn't have the HDD or Floppy.

You're probably aware of this, but just in case you aren't, there are several good TI-99/4a emulators out there. I had it a long time ago and downloaded some of the cartridges for it that someone ripped to file format. There is also detailed instructions on how to make a cable to connect a cassette deck to your PC to get the programs off. I still have a bunch of cassettes. I always programmed in machine call language (i think that's what it was called), because the cartridge to allow you to program in BASIC was very expensive at the time.

I don't know if it's legal or not, so I won't post a link, but a simple search yields a very detailed web site about it.
