Shortened this for clarity...

I'll consider contributing when all of my Cakewalk purchases are listed in my BandLab account for download and installing- as I was told by moderators- which was followed by Meng stating it was like moving from one house to another- he didn't know what would be moved nor when.

If I contribute it will be for moving my purchases at the Gibson house to the BandLab house -keeping my Cakewalk goods useful to me. Not for mugs or t-shirts.

Maybe BandLab could sell CbB and wouldn't be asking for "tips"? Just a thought.

I was happy to give a tip (and can't wait for the T-shirt and mug... they look fantastic).  I was overjoyed when I heard the plan for Cakewalk, like a Phoenix, rising from the grave :)  And so far my experience with the new Cakewalk has been fantastic.  Install was easy, it's recognized all of my plug-ins (and all of my old extras from SPLAT and other Cakewalk purchased goodies over the years like Zeta 2+ and Rapture Pro, etc).  The work flow is the same, it's stable and fast... all the things I loved about SPLAT (and X3 before).  And now I don't have to worry (at least in the near term) of Windows updates breaking my recording ecosystem.

Huge thanks to Meng, and the Bakers... and to this community for all the great tips I've picked up from you all over the years.  Back to making music.

(p.s. I haven't heard back from the BandLab team yet, since my tip... about the t-shirt and mugs... I'm hoping they're just overwhelmed processing the orders, or maybe gleaned what they needed from the notes section of the tip.)

Are these real mugs that you have in stock, ready to ship?

The reason I ask is that the white one has a logo that looks about 15 years old, and the black one seems to have been rendered in Illustrator or similar, quite quickly.

I too 'tipped' for a shirt an mug. However when my PayPal transaction completed there was no next step to select the items, or provide a mailing address, so I assume I will not b receiving the item :(. Alas ...

I'm going to be tipping so hopefully supplies don't run out (I'm a mug nut) but I'd like to know more about what the actual monetization platform will consist of and when it will start before I do because what tier I choose will have a lot to do with that.

The question I have isn't whether or not there will be a revenue stream; it's obvious there will be several. My question is more about gaining detailed information on what exactly is in the works and how quickly we can expect to see them. The answers are to this point pretty vague as to what we can expect to see and while more detailed information will be forthcoming, it's kind of placing a wall as to how much I am willing to "tip" because there are no details on any sort of product development for Cakewalk and no expected timeline.

I think they have to resolve the demo mode problem first. Then I'll cheerfully contribute to the tip jar.

Dean L. Surkin - Steinway A (1902, rebuilt 1988), Kawai MP8, Yamaha KX-76; Intel i7-4770K, 32GB, RME AIO; HP ZR30w (great monitor!); Sonar Platinum, Garritan JABB3 and GPO4, VB3
One day, when I have the time, I will learn how to use all the features of Cakewalk 2.0. Oh, wait, Sonar 8.5. What did you say? Sonar version what?

James,

Noel has been using the black mug for a long time as his avator, but not with the "by Bandlab".   The white mug was the logo years ago.  I have a cap with that logo.

I marked the $49 as "cheap"!
And yes, with Cakewalk staying in development, your "refills" are indeed "on the house"!

You should get an email at some point from BandLab asking for your item preferences.

I actually jumped the gun as the selection in the confirmation email said "undefined", so I replied the email and BandLab got back to me pretty quick confirming my selection.

Your PayPal account should have an address associated with it - this should have been sent to BandLab automatically.

I am - and I just did.

I encourage all who love Cakewalk to do the same. Even $5 or $10 bucks makes a difference if a lot of us do it.

This is GREAT NEWS that Bandlab has taken on Cakewalk - and we want to encourage them to continue to improve and develop the software. The best way to do this is by demonstrating our true appreciation for what they have done, and signaling our continuing support for their efforts.

So far, I am loving the latest version.

But of course, I always see room for improvement . . .

Well, I'll be the oddball then:  I don't know yet.  I'll make that decision after I've had a chance to use the non-early access version.  If I don't tip then I probably won't be using it either.

Noel Borthwick [Cakewalk]

Well thats exactly what CbB and BandLab itself is. Its a service/platform for music production. Even before BandLab came along this was the the original goal at Cakewalk with the lifetime updates initiative - to make SONAR into a service. The core service would be free and add on's would be monitized. Sadly the plug got pulled before we could realize any of those goals. BandLab has both the vision and resources to follow through with this.

I'm old enough to be from a different era where it people were willing to pay handsomely for specialized software Unlike today, software was considered a valuable asset. I paid close to 400£ for Cakewalk 1.0 when I could barely afford it! That model is dying or dead and today most software companies are gradually moving to a services model. Take a look at even the big boys like Microsoft, Apple and Google. Pretty much all the software is free and you pay for other components.

I definitely get that, Noel, and I'm excited for what you guys will do with Cakewalk with the backing and commitment of BandLab. Looking forward to the first add-ons! Any rough idea on ETA?

BTW, another quick question -- are you going to make the paid add-ons locked to Cakewalk (for example, in the case of a plugin) or are you going to release VST versions that will work with other DAWs, etc.? Combination of both?

Anyway, sending you best wishes on this new journey, and keep going with this vision. I'm happy you're part of Cakewalk's future!

Cakewalk has a long history of having paid for products, FX and instrument plugins, that are not locked to their DAW. It would shrink their market. The only things tied to their DAWs have been some plugins that came packaged along with it.

I make all my purchases through Paypal and I imagine many others do as well. I think they would optimize their Tips by making sure Paypal works.

What demo mode problem? CbB is free. There is no demo mode.

If you’re talking about Splat then try closing the CCC and starting it up again. You may have to sign in again.

Perhaps, I am only guessing here, the fee they pay paypal is larger than the fee for a credit card and had you picked the $49 option Paypal would have worked. For $10, they want a credit card.

That makes sense. Still, I presume 10 dollars would well take care of any transaction fees and still leave a good amount for the tip jar.

I was one of the early "tippers".  I received several e-mails the last week or so.  One was for my shipping address and the last was my T-Shirt and Mug selections, this past week.  If they are shipped from Hong Kong, don't expect them fast.  I've bought several electronics parts on e-bay from Hong Kong and it took nearly a month for shipping.
