So, having scanned down that list, the only way you will get any sort of code is if you are currently installing SONAR for the first time. I'm not ready to do that, so it is unlikely that I will be able to stick some sort of code onto a USB stick any time soon. I suppose if I had a second PC to work with, I could experiment, but I don't.

Actually... reading that list of required steps, offline activation may not work after all. The "activation request" file that you upload will contain encrypted codes that describe your processor, HDD, etc, standard way to identify specific hardware and the activation response will be created based on that. If your computer simply has to be re-formatted then a stored activation code should still work, but replacing certain components, or building a complete replacement computer would render the activation code useless.

I can see taking a slow, methodical approach to moving on, but I don't see the point in hanging on and on and on. I've dipped my toe in the Reaper pool a few times over the years and finally committed to working thru the niggles last year. I'm VERY glad I did that. I also grabbed SO3 Pro last year and spent time getting to know it. For now, I'm moving to Reaper. I guess I already did a few months ago, to be honest. I'll also keep SO3 up to date on the sidelines to see how it develops over the next year or two or three. SONAR will be kept on life support in some fashion until I'm pretty sure I have stems and other important bits of past projects available for importing into another DAW. I feel for those of you that have a revenue stream dependent on a SONAR based studio you've nurtured for many years. That has to be hard to swallow right now.

The store seems to be closed, so it may well be that it's too late to do anything :o( I was hoping they could allow a way to upgrade still. In my case the problem would be I'd upgrade on a machine not yet existing. So, the authorization wouldn't work the day I get a new PC, anyway. I feel like having run my car at a pine.
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.
