Why do take lanes automatically mute when recording midi?

Hi guys
 
I'm royally frustrated here - and I hope someone is able shed some light on my problem!
 
I'm using X2 Producer, build 351.
 
I'm recording a midi piano part (as I've often done for years in Sonar since v5). I'm not the greatest pianist, so sometimes I play back the blocked-in chords to add a few passing notes. But, when I play back the track with record engaged, it automatically mutes my original piano part - no matter which combination of take lanes are armed, which are muted and which are soloed its the same result!
 
The only workaround is for me to play my few extra notes on a complete different track (or more!) - which becomes incredibly cumbersome and silly.
 
Has anybody had the same problem and found a solution to it?

    Maybe you want to use "Sound on Sound" record mode Edit > Preferences > Project > Record

    Thanks Scook - but I've already tried swapping the recording modes too. Neither Sound on Sound or Overwrite modes do anything to affect the problem I'm having. :(

    Please report this as a bug, or feature request. It bothers the heck out of me, also. I think it is "by design" but I'd love to see it changed so that it worked the way layers did in X1 and earlier.
    Perhaps if enough of us complain.... we'll get an option to have take lanes respecting the "sound on sound" setting.
