How serious do you want them to take you?

Serious as a heart attack?

Serious like Noel Coward?

Serious like Iron Man 2?

The X1 t-shirts will let you place the arm and head holes anywhere you like. After all, we're talking T-shirt 2.0 here. None of that tired old head-hole-at-the-top nonsense that's so last-decade. These will let you place the head-hole anywhere you like, even on a separate shirt. There will no doubt be some initial confusion, but rest assured that user-definable head-hole positions will greatly improve t-shirt usage. The new T-set feature will let you remember where you last put the head-hole.

Brilliant! I hear they'll have fully search-able folds as well.  Will owners of a V-Studio system finally be able to X-Ray them with their T-Bar?

There's only one thing the music industry takes seriously. Money. Lot's of genius's didn't make any with their music. The real genius of the industry is to make money, to create industry on your own. To make the wheels of commerce turn in your favor. It's an art in and of it's self.
Finding time for making music and finding the time to sell it equals a lot of time.

I just heard a rumor that T-Shirt 2.0 was out soon, Has anyone got details? Have Cakewalk posted a video yet?

Year after year I've been putting in feature requests for "Arm Holes Anywhere" as well but apparently they've gone for Head Holes anywhere only instead. That's a real disappointment if it's true. Having one and not the other is like having your cake and not eating. Damn Bakers!

Its all about the final product.

If it sounds great, the industry will take you seriously.

What DAW you use doesn't matter.  Whatever product that allows you to get the best final product will be the one that gives you the industry respect.

All DAWs are capable of producing some great stuff.  There are some people that got in the industry with what some people call a "toy" DAW, and a demo version of the "toy" DAW at that.

Some people will buy a full blown Pro Tools HD system and will produce a "crappy" final product.  I've heard some great mixes using Sonar (my mixes and other people's mixes).

In the end nobody will know what DAW you really use (unless you state it).  The industry probably won't even care either.

There really is only one pro DAW on the market today.  The rest of us don't stand a chance without owning it.  It is the most widely used music production environment today, and millions rely on its features daily.  It has a wealth of top notch plugins and editing features that put all other DAWs to shame.

I am speaking of course.....of Audacity.

HA! you thought I was going to say Pro Tools didn't you?

So anyway... after years of dillegent study of the process's of DAW recording and virtual instruments, new innovations have been released that may simplfy the process. Much like the chain of events in setting up the system prior to digital recording yet enhanced in the digital world and flow. The beckoning mind reachs for the concept and waits in limbo for the reality to be available to the immediate senses of touch and response to result. So anyway...

Some people think that having an "Industry Standard"! (DAW) is going to open up doors to the world.

Maybe we  are getting it wrong.

A good song is probably what is needed.

COD was done on a beta version but the person in question
has a good track history.

So do we blame the DAW or is it the lack of ability as each DAW can effectively just the same as another DAW.

The same song on different platforms. you do not even have to A/B it.

Because the question would be I wonder which DAW that was done on.

STOP MAKING EXCUSES for poor talent!

Our good old neighbours, the neanderthals, made music with hitting a stick on a tree.

Yeah, let's go back to that.(darn.... dance music makers already did that).

And I think you are mixing up the end tool and the product itself.

What I mean is, new times, new tools. Today musicmaking and sharing music is available to all of us, not just a bunch in the "industry". And the new tools like computers can make it easier and lower threshold to do many things. And that is what the 'race' is about, who can make more things possible without a lifetime experience making music, producing it and releasing it.

In many fields of business the strategy is to build a brand by doing some really extra ordinary products in a price range that very few can afford, making it really exclusive. Then they have a really high demand on the simpler models because the brand itself is so attractive.

I'm thinking of BMW, Porsche and Mercedes etc.

Steinberg has Nuendo, and  Magix has Samplitude and they cost at least twice what any version Cakewalk is supplying. Any brand that has nothing to offer in the highest price ranges for the most demanding professionals will never get the same status, I think. They are also building knowledge building these most advanced products.

That is what Cake need to do also if to be among the topmost. Aim for the moon and you might reach the treetops.

For me, I don't really care, I like Sonar still and hope they make enough money to continue develop it. It's among the most bang for the buck as I see it. I haven't missed thing so far. And Sonar is recognized as among the well respected products all over. And there are no silly hardware locks anywhere. And I think upgrade policies make it really affordable.

The marketing that Roland has put into Cakewalk will pay off I'm sure. Will surely make it easier for a studio to maybe choose Sonar as main daw. If the new UI in X1 provides better work flow why shouldn't they. But maybe have ProTools just in case they need to exchange stuff with other studios.

I'm curious about X1 and will most probably upgrade 8.5 Studio to X1 Studio. If there are proper specs on what is actually included pluginwise, and whether proper x64 versions and stuff on everything I might go for producer too.

I hope Cake make a big succes with X1 breaking new markets shares. But it still puzzles me that they did not take the chance to release the news on X1 and Rolands big announcement day Sept 1st. Now Roland has to do extra marketing just for Sonar instead, which is much more expensive.

Unfortunatly, in today's music industry, it's not even about the music. Just listen to some of the crap on the radio. There are TONS of great songs out there that we will never hear because of all the other factors that go into making a song a hit. Marketablilty, looks, age, alot of things we didn't look at years ago. It would be nice to just get back to the music again.
