However with Sonar or any new hardware or software you might purchase, there are no guarantees about 2020.

I am yet to test my hardware for MOTU MIDI, Yamaha Motif and V-Synth GT and software synths.

I did have very strange thing happened- my internet modem lost wired connection but would maintain wireless. No reset would work. I called the cable company, they tried to pin it for a new IP address, nothing would work. Took us 4 hours with level 2 tech support to fix it. What we did is- unplug all computers connected from the power and then restart. They also cleared "cookies" on their end- it calls APR something- kind of like modem cookies. And then it happened again the next day, and all I had to do is unplug 4 computers as I dont know what caused it.

I did upgrade Windows 7 32 bit without any issues, and it was Core 2 Duo processor- 2008 model. I also updated two Win 8.1 custom built computers. About to test my music computer for hardware/software issues.

I have a pretty outdated setup but it still gets the job done.  I upgraded to Win 10 and it is working really well but I did notice one thing and I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this.  During playback in a rough mix situation with a few plugins running, I have some audio glitches that I did not experience before under Win 7.  The audio hiccoughs for a moment at different spots and not in the same place if I stop and try it again.  I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 and Focusrite says the 2.5.2 driver is compatible and has been working just fine for several days now.  I want to adjust the ASIO buffers but they are maxed out.  Any ideas to try to correct this?

Best to start a new thread, however try uninstalling focusrite software, rebooting, reinstalling, rebooting, then see if you can do a full reset of the interface (no idea how with 2i2's as I see you don't have mix control).

All my MIDI connections (Motif, V-Synth and Motu) work as expected. Also to make it work, I had to disconnect it while computer was ON and reconnect to let it "feel" it- then it installed drivers.

Re: Windows 10, drivers, etc. 2015/09/19 02:26:44 (permalink)
I did upgrade other computers to Windows 10 so I used one of those machines as a test model to get my PCR-800 working. I was successful in getting the the midi controller to work and I installed the edirol software just to see if it would also work inside windows 10. After everything checked out I upgraded my main computer which is used to record my music.

I already took windows 10 off the main computer and reinstalled Windows 7 because I could not get the drivers for the PCR-800 to work in the past windows 10 install. So I reinstalled windows 10 and downloaded the windows 8.1 and vista drivers. I did the procedure that was described which was to install the windows 8.1 drivers until you get to the point where it wants you to plug in your hardware, then cancel out of the procedure without doing an uninstall. Then use the device manager to manually find the vista drivers

In windows 10 right clicking on the start button brings up a menu with immediate access to the control panel and the device manager and a host of other things. What a cool feature for windows 10 because it really allows you to get anywhere inside the operating system quickly.

I tried to use the windows 7 drivers as Jesse suggested but I could not get it to work. In the end I had to use the Vista drivers to get everything to work. Now I have my midi controller back and I have windows 10. How cool is that. I had to reactivate Addictive Drums so it would work. This was easy to do using the Addictive installer. other than that everything went well.

I know some question the need to upgrade but there are some advantages to Windows 10. The first thing I noticed was that older software that worked in XP and that no longer worked in Vista or Windows 7 now works again in windows 10. The second thing I noticed is that my other normal hardware works better in windows 10. I have a second monitor and I could not get the higher resolution to work in windows 7. it now works great in windows 10. while this may have been a graphics card issue it is resolved in windows 10.

Thank you to everyone for your help in resolving this issue. The New Windows operating system seems to work better with software and hardware alike. That is, if you can get the drivers to work.
