Windows 8.1 Caution

http://www.rme-audio.de/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=88847#p88847

I just wanted to throw out a caution on Windows 8.1. I've noted before that RME DigiCheck isn't working yet on Windows 8.1, but the Administrator for their forum chimed in tonight. The administrator is Matthias Carstens who is RME Head of Design.

If RME is reporting ASIO Issues with Windows 8.1, the issues may not be isolated to RME.

Perhaps, but perhaps not. If you use ASIO, be cautious regarding 8.1 upgrade.

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

I don't have any problems with my Delta44 in Win 8.1 using ASIO, so I doubt it's a general problem with 8.1.

The RME Interface works on 8.1 (including RME TotalMix software). It's the additional software - DigiCheck - which does not.

I'm not suggesting that NOTHING works in 8.1. I'm just throwing out caution. I was also surprised after I posted a month ago on the RME Forums that the latest version of DigiCheck (out 6-Aug-2013 or so) doesn't fix the problem. I suspect that within that window an RME developer replicated the issue on 8.1 to see if there was an easy fix.

I'm totally prepared to believe it's the RME Software that is the problem. I'm just sharing information in case I can save someone trouble.

I would also not be surprised that Sonar (which is tightly coupled with Windows) isn't having any problems with some Windows change where other companies (RME and who knows who else) may have a problem.

Windows 8.1 will be officially released Oct 17th.
No doubt there will be (smaller) issues that need ironed out.
IMO, it will help those who felt a bit alienated by the UI changes... and especially those not using touch.

FCCfirstclass how is it going with the VS100 and 8.1 is it stable? Any advantages. I use the VS with a laptop for backing at gigs so am wondering whether to bite.

Just a warning my Edirol PCR-M1 and PCR-800 Midi controller doesn't work with Windows 8.1 RTM and Windows RT 8.1 Preview.
The LCD screen lights up for 5 seconds then fades out. Works fine on the Windows 7 machine.

Loaded 8.1 yesterday and it actually solved a problem I had with J-Station software. All is well along with X2, midisport 1x1 and TC Impact Twin.
