I know this is out of place, because it is conjecture- but I believe there will come a time when W10 will start to demand money to continue to operate. The initial plan was to give users of pirated windows W10 for free too- which caused a lot of second glances... I think w10 is a trojan horse, sorry guys- I can't jump on the bandwagon

that's the key question for me, hoping to hear something positive ... Further questions: - Does an in-place install of win10 apply the same default settings as a clean install (i.e. does it likewise fully reset any system tweaks or do you end up with some left overs that might interfere)?
- What happens to WAVES plug-ins? Do they work fine after in place win 10 upgrade (not on WAVES WUP, so if they don't work it gets expensive, currently using W9r19)

My Waves work on Windows 10. As far as I'm aware you're still entitled to point releases even when you're not on WUP. You just don't get upgrades to bundles or a major release (Waves 10, when it arrives).

I only have a few Waves plugins, but have been able to use them after I did a fresh install to Win 10 by using Waves Central to install and activate them. All the best.

The biggest concern I had was my interface. I had an old Presonus Firepod. There are no drivers for Windows 10 for this interface. I HAD to stick with Windows 7 until I got a new interface. I have replaced it with a Behringer XR-18. I was hesitant to go with Behringer. They have had a reputation for lower quality. But, at $699 for 18 in/out + a Live Digital mixer with effects? Let me just say that the Preamps are a pleasant surprise. Anyway as long as your interface supports it, I would do this before July when the free upgrade is due to disappear. That is why I upgraded my interface. Now I'm on Windows 10. I have the Home version, BUT if I was getting paid I would definitely get the PRO version. So far the home version with its automatic update have not been an issue. I do like Windows 10 better than 7. MUCH faster boot time.
SPLAT on a Home built i3 16 GB RAM 64-bit Windows 10 Home Premium 120GB SSD (OS) 2TB Data Drive. Behringer XR-18 USB 2.0 Interface. FaderPort control.

the availability of w10 for "non-genuine" MS operating systems was rescinded shortly before the release. I seem to recall MS originally stated they were giving it out to everyone free to combat the plethora of viruses clogging up the net. such philanthropists they are
