Good luck Alex! Wear some shades. I can't remember why...but it's a good thing.

Don't forget to run everywhere you go. No one will know why, but they'll assume it's important. Of course, you only have to look like you're in a panic. In reality, everything's fine and you've really got nothing better to do at the moment. There's nothing quite like an engineer running for his life to give the crowd the sensation that this whole event may be about to go horribly wrong. When you race back to board, make sure to grab a fader and ram it all the way up or down with a huge flourish. It will give the crowd a thrill, knowing that, against all odds, you made it just in the nick of time. The fact that the channel was muted at the time is irrelevant. If the engineer has a heart rate of about 150, no soles on their shoes, and they're covered in sweat, then you know you got your money's worth. Have a great time and enjoy the show!

Some trainers with LED's that come on when you walk are good too... And of course 38 rolls of gaffa tape minimum. Oh, and I almost forgot, address anyone and everyone as 'Babe', regardless of gender.

Thanks for all the good wishes, I guess they helped :) It was a outside gig and it was 30 degrees Celcius in the shade, so plenty of sweat around ....... It went surprisingly well, apart from the first songs(why do singers never use their voice during sound-check as they do for "real" :( ) Lesson learned, the band was happy, the people watching were happy, me happy :)

Funny how that works. If everything is good no one will even notice you exist. Imagining people naked never worked for me. My eyes tended to only go a few places in the audience and then I completely forget what I'm doing. Best of luck to you. You'll be in here tomorrow telling us how great it all went.

It sounds like you had a great time. I'm glad our sage advice was so helpful. (Even if our advice was listed as things to avoid...)

I knew you would do a good job. But..... the drums were too loud, you needed to raise the guitar solos a bit more and there was 40Hz rumble that needed a HPF.
