Thanks John!  That is cool indeed.

I knew a little bit about how music in video games worked, but you went more into detail and I really appreciate that.  I'll check those softwares out, if only out of curiosity.  You never know when they may come in handy :-)

Take care!

Yeah, it's really interesting stuff. You sort of get to marry together really modern interactive DJ style techniques with old school scoring and a bunch of other far-out stuff. Wwise even has live side-chaining in the game engine, so you could trigger your music to duck behind the sound of especially loud guns or whatever.

It's very gratifying seeing a game audio  project come together, and seeing how getting it right can really enhance the play experience.

Unfortunately, unless you're a Sean Murray, a lot of game audio work is just banging out looping tunes to order. I've just had to do a bunch of cockernee knees up round the piano type tunes for a web game, I felt truly dirty afterwards :)

But I do get the odd nice project. The problem is that outside of the big publishers, a lot of developers don't really appreciate the value of good audio.

Yes, thanks for sharing John. Something like that would be getting close to a dream job for me, although I'm certain it would be much harder and more frustrating than I like to imagine!
