I still think Rapture is a brilliant program. I'd like to see that FIXED and brought back for real. There are really only a few things that are messed up:

1. Envelopes
2. Try modulating amplitude
3. It has no idea where to find samples...good luck transporting presets
4. Too much clicking among windows (I don't think anyone who actually programs synths thought through the UI, it seems oriented toward playback-only); I'd like some tear-off windows

It's not just a great synth on its own, it would be a perfect complement to Ableton Live, or for anyone doing MIDI guitar. It's a shame the original version was bungled, and some people at Cakewalk told me it was too much effort to fix. However, the previous regime at Cakewalk also felt no one wanted content (it's a good thing Native Instruments doesn't know that!), and plug-ins should exist only within Sonar, so perhaps that attitude will change. Fingers crossed. Rapture Pro is still one of my go-to synths, for a variety of reasons.

Rather than a coming back, I prefer that CbB and bakers managed to solve two problems in arranging projects:
1) a button that shows that Ripple Edit is on
2) to make possible to the user to decide at which point a project ends.

I'd like a simple Sample Manager added to Rapture Pro. Highlight the audio from the track,  copy and past to the manager, fine trim, loop points assign it to a key range, set it velocity range. Rapture creates the the SFZ file, and stores the sample.

Cakewalk live for DOS is the future. 600kb of rock solid midi awesomeness! A little tweaking of those pink and green graphics, a rebirth of the midiquest paralell port interface, a dodgy GM sound module (unless you could afford a Kurzweill K1000) and we are good to go:)

1. Beatscape - still the best REX player out there but only 32 bit.
2. Project 5 - never really used it but it was cool looking.

My thoughts about Project5 are to bring it back like a mobile app. Propellerheas did it with Rebirth for iPad few years ago. But it was closed soon.

Love Skaid's idea of a media player with vst capabilities.  I'd love to see it taken a step further and add playback of midi in sync with audio.  A real Playlist player with some optimized functionality.  The old Virtual Jukebox which I think ended with Cakewalk 9 was better than the Playlist function.  A "Main Stage" for Cakewalk would be awesome!!!!

I`d rather they spent time improving what is already there and fixing the many long standing bugs.

what about a media player with vst effects?

Music Bee has a plug-in that will wrap VST's.

I loved Project 5!  I can still use P5 ver 2 on my Windows 10 64 bit computer but it is hampered a lot by being only 32-bit so I really can't do much with it since almost all my plugins are 64 bit.  If they could just make P5 ver 2 64-bit it would be a whole new ball game!

if they would have done that before discontinuing it, I would still be using it today as well.

Check Out my presets for Rapture Classic

2. Project 5 - never really used it but it was cool looking.

Why would you not just want the REX functionality added to Cakewalk (assuming it is lacking)

And Project 5 style functions in Matrix view, again within Cakewalk.

Not sure I understand the concept of wanting separate applications instead of a focus on the do it all wonder that is/could be Cakewalk.

I think that is what most of us would want. Project5 let you record directly in the matrix, Hopefully Cakewalk by Bandlab can update the matrix view especially with Jesse back.

I'd like to see an update to Audio Creator (which doesn't work on my Windows10 system anymore.) It's a great tool for editing files and burning them to WAVs, MP3, CDs (not that I burn many of those anymore). It fills a gap where Sonar is weak, which is splitting up a long recording (like a live band recording) into individual tracks, marking the tracks and exporting them to separate songs. I do this a lot. Sound Forge doesn't do it. I'm using Audacity to do it now.

Not anymore. I have IL Slicex and Reason. Rex files are still sold but now many DAWs will slice a wav file to be used that way.
