way to go CW! I haven't been on here in a while. It looks like you guys are really trying to mop up the market with X1. I love X1 so far. the cross grade list seems to be for everyone except pt, logic users. I wonder if that from being competitors or just don't think those users will turn? Of course the poor souls that paid tens of thousands on PT rigs are keeping PT. "I have been a CW guy since home studio." I figure a big percentage of us are.. my stickler is: I can't get the latency in X1 to even compete with PT9 when recording audio and PT delay comp is at 0.00 However, PT9 breaks the AVID !! Mbox 3 pro driver forcing you to use that asio4all bullcrap. the quality of sound is dramatically different. and the asio4all is about 1/2 to 3/4 the volume of the factory drivers. my workaround is to use the drivers from my projectmix i/o, but that only gets to 96k. not a problem for me, but sometimes some folk just gotta have it in HD (just cuz it sounds cool) Sonar runs my avid, m-audio gear better than PT does, and even do it at 192k. thats why I wondered why they were left out of the xgrade I dont want to start another my pt is better than your x1 debate. just saying I was here, then discovered PT9. and after seeing the X1 ads I'm back to see whats up +1 marketing team!
Phenom Quad core, 8gb ram, 3.5tb of Fine Music Storage Vault Under Armed Guard w/ UAV support (air-hog chopper), set of MA-15D, Delta 10-10 pci w/interface, m-box 3 pro, projectmix I/O, Metal Pop Filters, Two SKB cases Full of Suck Removal Buttons, Cedar Walls, Stripper Pole (helps with mastering & block priceing) more stuff i'm to lazy to add. ;) P.S. good Memory foam is freakin awesome.

<whew>! Now you guys were really cuttin' that one close.... Waiting so long that even die-hards such as myself are beginning to lose faith... Now this announcement... Much more like the Cakewalk I know and remember.... Always one step ahead and giving the icing when only a cake was asked for.... and with candles! ;-) I truly do look forward to these releases... of course the X1c is the crown, the Z2 is exciting as well... and more important (to me) is that the attitude of the letter sounds like the devoted musician/programmers who have been so gifted as to give us this marvelous software and continue it's development... I can't wait to change my attitude about X1... It really wouldn't take much.... but the 'right' changes/additions would be crazy glue all over! Rock On Cakewalk! Thanks for giving me so much fuel to continue... I will even start a new piece in X1 in anticipation of C's release! Keni

Yeah the part where they said X2 would be released less than 10 weeks after X1C.

Just have to add my 1/2 cent, for anyone at Cakewalk who is listening. One of the main reasons I have stayed with Cakewalk all these years is how well you treat your user community. It always surprises me to hear people complaining about how they feel CW has left them out in the cold. I think this announcement is further proof that you ARE listening to us, and that you're on the right track. :-) Thanks!

Awesome news! Being new to Sonar I'm stoked with everything Cakewalk is doing so far. I hope that down the road all older synths / effects get some kind of visual overhaul. So much value that is hidden away. :)

Man, you must love Cakewalk so very much. Or am I missing something? Who said we were back on an October cycle? Good point. It does appear that a more lengthy period of time is being put into X1's product cycle. There is no mention of X2 soon after X1C. X2 could be way off into 2012. I think Cakewalk are trying to make X1 as stable as possible it appears which is a great move. I am very pleased with the news regardless of the initial problems with X1 after it's release. Looking ahead it seems Cakewalk are laser focused on making X1 the best ever Sonar release with stability apparently very high on the agenda for X1C "SONAR X1c will offer superior stability" Well done Bakers!

"Cakewalk is expanding on what you might expect from SONAR and breaking from tradition to make SONAR X1 very simply the best DAW in the industry." Sonar X1 has to address the Staff View/Notation issues first......

Given the X1C timeframe - August - and the pre-hype it has been given, along with all the other Sonar X1 stuff planned for the next few months, my best guess is that the once-year-update is not the go for now - I think [ hope ] CW are going to get X1 as solid as they can, be it X1D or X1E or X1.1 or X1.5 etc.... and then move on to X2 - I dont think we will see X2 until Q2 or Q3 2012 and I dont think X1C is the end for X1. tomg

Sonar X1 has to address the Staff View/Notation issues first...... Varispeed would be nice as well! It's the only thing that's lacking in Sonar for what I used and it's a pain to have to jump back and forward between X1 and REAPER to use it. If Sonar had varispeed it'd be my one-stop shop for audio.

Man, you must love Cakewalk so very much. Or am I missing something? I'd be very surprised if they are working on getting an X1C out in August that they have been spending much time on the next major version release to have something ready for the October timeframe. I've been using X1 since its release and it has been working pretty well (other than the Lynx driver problem that they fixed very quickly). I've noticed some dropouts that I didn't tend to see with 8.5, so hopefully those types of things will be addressed in X1C. Looking forward to it. Tom

This is great news, I'm pleased to see CW continuing the momentum they've got with X1. I can't wait to see what the new Z3TA+ brings to the table, it's a cool synth for sure. I definitely agree that it would be rather shocking, given an August release of X1c, if they were planning to release X2 this year. I'm pretty sure that will be 2012. I'm also excited about the Craig Anderton tutorial! I like the communication here and am generally, I have to say, a happy little CW camper at this point...

Good news please address CWBRN-3942 within X1C And it's just the beginning And that is just the summer! We have even more exciting news in the works for SONAR X1 through the rest of 2011 - so stay tuned! Cakewalk is expanding on what you might expect from SONAR and breaking from tradition to make SONAR X1 very simply the best DAW in the industry. suggests to me that there may be an X1D and/or an X1E etc to come

It would be a silly idea to split the products and have dj / "pro", I like how you buy X1 and everything is in there, the possibilities are endless. Also most 'DJ's are producers as well.

Guys, please accept my apologies for any cynicism and negativity I've expressed. I fully accept Cakewalk are doing an honest and transparent job of getting X1 to where we all want it to be, both by listening to our feedback and by posting here in the forum and letting us know what's happening behind the scenes. And if, as some of you seem to be speculating, this means a longer timeframe between upgrades, and that X2 will be fully baked and released when it's ready, I for one believe this will be an exciting time for all of us.

I would kind of like to see that too. I don't care if DJ stuff is included but I'd like the ability to not install it. Like Beatscrape - never installed it and never likely will install it. I've also had my fill of softsynths, step recorders, samplers and the like. Yeah, I use soft synths but I have 3rd party products from folks whose only mission is that particular type of product. On the other hand, I could use notation but I understand that is a niche segment of the user base.
