Uninstalled RME Driver AND Sonar in its entirety. Reinstalled the lot up to X1C. Problem persists...

Did you also delete any potentilly saved files... like a certain INI file saved in you ruser folder, perhaps?

You could always try renaming AUD.INI and let SONAR recreate it. But first remove the RME entirely... see if you can get SONAR running with a fresh AUD.INI, no RME, as Mike suggests... Then reinstall the RME.

Hi guys, thanks for all this info. I use the RME HDSP9652 in studio.

I did delete the drivers in Device Manager, and cold rebooted, reinstalled etc. No change. It seems to be n ASIO problem, as the RME will run in WDM mode (useless for my purposes).

I use Iobit's Advances System care, so Reg has been cleaned.

I will try some of the other options suggested today. This did prompt me to buy Acronis (which is on sale today for 29.95) but that'll only help me next time there is an issue.

It's definitely a hardware issue, but wasn't there before X1C. I hate to pin it on anyone, so I'll just blame myself for not being more careful.

No offense, LJB... but if you're running a studio with booked sessions, you should really backup your system with imaging software like Acronis before doing any updates whatsoever. Then when a problem like this arises, it literally takes about 15 to 20 minutes to get your system back up and running again.

True Image is $49.
It'll pay for itself the first time you use it.
No matter what happens (assuming the hardware itself is OK), you'll always be able to quickly/easily get back to a properly working machine.

Once Ludwig has things back in order, he should pickup True Image (or similar) and make a backup image file.

Sometimes I've been caught out by the most obvious error but I couldn't see it.

Do you have Windows sounds enabled and using your sound card. That will always stop ASIO drivers from being used.

I used my True Image license to do a system roll back yesterday. I played my Fender Tele while it did it's thing. It was my first time actually using the restore function after making all those backups. I am so thankful I had that option.

Jim, you were the guy that taught me to use it. Thanks so much!!!

best regards,
mike
