Sure, but you've got to balance the cost of the call against what it's worth to you.

Ludwig, you run a studio, no?

I highly recommend imaging software, as Frank suggested... Here's my favorite: http://www.livecd.com/

Active Boot Disk (full suite of utiities), or Active Disk Image (disk imaging only). Create an entire binary disk image in just a few minutes... need a partition/disk restore after a wonky install? Complete restore is just a few minutes away... Highly recommended for mission critical systems.

Hi guys, thanks for all the info. Just spent 30 or more minutes on the phone with CW, just to find out that my RME drivers have been corrupted or something. No neither Soundforge or Sonar will work in ASIO mode. And it all worked perfectly this morning before X1C. Gonna have to reinstall X1 from scratch or cacell my sessions tomorrow...

No offense, LJB... but if you're running a studio with booked sessions, you should really backup your system with imaging software like Acronis before doing any updates whatsoever. Then when a problem like this arises, it literally takes about 15 to 20 minutes to get your system back up and running again.

    Best,
    Scott

My ignorance obviously, but I thought that was what System Restore was for. Never had any issues before, but so we learn. I did reinstall the latest RME drivers, but to no avail. Is there a way to delete the entire driver or something?

No, unfortunately, System Restore only backups certain system files. It doesn't create an exact image backup of your drive.

There may well be a driver removal program in your Windows Control Panel->Programs & Features

Sometimes they will have an option to completely remove drivers. Failing that you can uninstall the driver and then remove all traces of it from your Driver Store see HERE for details but I have seen it mentioned elsewhere by MS that messing around there can be risky.

But if it ain't working now & you're desperate.........

ROFPMSL - I'd forgotten all about how you lot entertain yourselves at night.  Here in sleepy Norfolk it's more likely to be the local farmhand throwing his fag butt over the hedge. That's as close as we get to riots here.

I feel for you man. The only thing to do now is a reinstall of the OS if you can. I am sure that there is another way but time is a-wasting. Sorry.

Stop reinstalling X1, you're just wasting your time. If the drivers are the issue, then concentrate on fixing that.  Do NOT reinstall the OS until you've tried this.

Which RME device is it? The HDSP or the UFX?

Either way, go to Device Manager, find the device and right click on it. In the Properties dialog, choose uninstall and click the 'delete drivers' option.

Then remove the device. Completely. Then cold boot.

Shut down again. Reinstall the latest drivers from the RME site. Install the device and cold boot again.

If that doesn't work, you likely have a hardware issue.

Will X1 launch without the RME?
