No crashes so far. I went from 8.3.1 Producer to X2 Studio and I have found X2 intuitive and easy to use. Love it.

I'm pretty happy. Some goofy behavior at times like clicking Mute and the track lane doesn't mute... so I mute the clip. Very minor stuff I'm sure will get worked out. FYI I'm on Windows 8 so that may introduce something to the mix.

robert_e_bone please do not do away with FX bins - I use them all the time. (Earlier post in this thread expressed them not being needed anymore). Bob, just curious...in your opinion, what's the difference between loading an effect in the bin and loading it into the pro channel bin? Do we really need two bins? I wasn't implying in my other post for them to do away with our regular bins...I'm just saying, with the way PC is set up now, is there really a need for 2 bins? Your thoughts? -Danny

I think there is a signal path post somewhere out there - haven't looked at it yet. I simply do not yet have an opinion on where to place things. I have so many more important things to do, like pay more attention to my currently biting me in the leg cat, finding my magnifying glasses, and avoiding playing bad notes on my keyboard tracks. It may not make a difference - I just haven't put the time into figuring that out, as of yet. I DO think the Pro Channel is a FABULOUS addition to the product. I just have to play with it more. If anyone has any thoughts?????? Thanks, Bob Bone

I'd like to see the effects bins stay. I'm particularly happy that I can now insert multiple instances of it anywhere in the PC chain (supposedly... I haven't tried it yet) . I appreciate the effort put into put into giving us parameter knobbies and the like that fit right in the PC but I don't think I'll be using them much. I like having my little box with little blue text where I know I can just pop open what I want when I need to and have a quick bypass of multiple effects or whatever in a little compact space. Mapping out parameters I barely understand as it is to something else that doesn't truly represent what's going on will only screw me up. Seems like that kind of thing is best left to folks who actually know what they are doing. Neat feature though and for simpler stuff I might try to use it but I like looking at full GUIs or having them collapsed as small as possible when not in use. And more of a general statement I'm still lovin' the X2 workflow after using it almost daily for a week or so of tracking now. So much simpler. I've had a couple of weird random crashes and there certainly are quirks but I haven't installed the Quick Fix yet (yes I know I am procrastinating but there aren't any show stoppers) but they have all been very minor and I haven;t even thought for a second that I missed X1. Very very nice software and I'm glad I didn't pizzle around and wait to install it like I intended.

I think for the future, the fxbin needs to be reworked into the prochannel with all of the pc modules having the option to save individual presets. Even as I type that, I'm not sure I like that idea 100%. But lately, I have been saving prochannel presets that include fx chains. But to err on the side of being thorough, I'm also saving those key settings as track templates and fx chains. That gives me 3 different ways to get to most of the key settings. I have to say in this case, I would rather be limited. (did I really just say that?) :)

X2 is far more stable for me than X1 ever was, but there are some annoying glitches when you try to edit clips etc. Also, e.g., the peak marker numbers don't show correctly on tracks. So it's a mixed bag so far.

Hi, Since the 308 patch,Iv'e not had a single crash yet,and I'm certainly noticing that the CPU power is more optimized with X2,as projects that were taking X1 to my laptops limit, are now able to be played smooth now. I'm starting to use the Pro Channel plugs more now[especially saving my own presets],even though I just spent up big, since Waves went x64 & did away with that nasty iLock, which brings me to the point about "FX bins",please DO NOT do away with them,as having both,is a fantastic way to have multiple options, with Effects. I have to agree somewhat with Danny, about assigning knobs, within FX chains,I just find it easier,to see the actual plugin GUI for adjustment, though having multiple FX taking up a much smaller space, obviously has enormous potential,I just haven't delved that deeply into it yet, however there is a new Pro Channel preset, with R-Mix,in an FX chain, which is good starting place to get into it. Auto zoom is great, and I'm finding myself using Breverb[stock included version]way more than "perfect space",though they are completely different, but Breverb is just so nice, its hard not to over use it,and the console Emulation, while a great thing to be included[how many other brands do that?]is something I find has to be used A LOT[I made some PC presets with x2 x3 x5 x7 for both Channels and Busses],to see/hear a lot of difference, but that is the point though isn't it,to add a "hair" of difference, that a certain console may add? I couldn't be more pleased with X2,especially for the incredibly low upgrade price, though I did invest heavily in X1,by first buying Studio[boxed].then Producer[boxed],as our internet here, was not trustworthy enough, for the large downloads back then,so I was extra relieved to find the upgrade cost low,and then be amazed with all the new goodies, that came with it,yes I must say X2 is a winner so far! Cheers Bob

X2 is crash-crazy here. Very discouraging. Often, once it crashes I can't open the same project - X2 crashes while trying to load it. The only 3rd party plugs I'm using are EZ Drummer and EZ Keys. That's it. I'm getting close to the end of my rope.

Hey - BCnSTL, can you please fire up a thread or two that details the problems you are having? That way, this community could assist you with getting things stabilized. Also, make sure that you add your system specifications to your signature, as we use that information in helping folks. Nice hair cut on your green dude - Is that Joan Rivers? :) We will try to help you - many many folks have X2 up and pretty stable - maybe we can get you there too. Sooo - separate threads and add your specs, Bob Bone

I have 2 computers - an HP i7 desktop, 8GB Ram, 2 SSDs, a Lenovo thinkpad, i7, 4GB RAM SSD. Running 64 bit on both. X2 Producer fully patched on both. The same project(s) crash on each computer. I appreciate the offer of help but again, I have a very vanilla setup so if it's something as esoteric as some obscure bit of HW then screw it, I'm done. It's 2012 - DAWs should be as stable as word processing apps were 10 years ago, which is to say *very*. Man, I'm sick of this crap.

No problems here. Haven't really put it through its paces yet. I had a few issue on installation but after that it seems rock solid. Running on a sony vaio 64 bit dual core laptop. I'll be recording new project next week so I'll see how that goes. So far I've imported some large work in progress from X1 and the transition has been fine. I really like the new autonation, take lanes, etc. No crashing problems, but 90% of the plug ins, fx and vst I use are native.
Please listen to my band's new (post-prog rock?!) songs at www.reclaimmusic.com all produced using sonar X1!!

Unfortunatly for me the audio engine is playing up more than X1, although this issue did happen before on times in X1, but now its regular as clockwork, Every second time i stop and start my song with the space bar the audio freaks out and distorts, until i stop and start again using the space bar, it does not matter how many track lines-audio or midi i have, even with just one track line, drove me crazy, so yet again i am not using sonar. I have reported this in the past in X1 but no joy, no reply from support as i usual for me, so i have given up. I also have a load more graphics issues, not that their is any point in reporting these also, all i will get is grapics card Problem or everything blamed on my settings in sonar or for the other problem my soundcard settings etc, when the point being i have 4 other Daws without such issues, and i get fed up of doing the same lame troubleshooting, and then i get no further help. Their is more to complain about, and few minor things have improved, but on the whole it seems like i have ended up with the bad bugs getting worse and new ones now happening on top, so on the whole X2 is not as good as X1 bugwise. all up to date with the sonar patches too. Oh well what can i do!
