I would have thought for sure there's a checkbox in the Preferences area, where these unexplained, or hidden "features" can be disabled. Maybe there is, and I haven't seen it yet. It seems there's some hidden "smart" functionality in the editor that may, on the surface seem odd or unexplained, but may really just be a way Cakewalk is trying to "help" you get the Lane or Layer editing sorted out so you can spend less time on muting, and better concentrate on making music. Or, there are lingering issues not worked out since Sonar 7 in the editor. Either way, because of these smart functions or oddities, that I quite often experience, makes using Cakewalk's editor a horrifying experience for me. There's some way cool features in the editor, but those barely make up for the issues and unexplained occurrences when editing. EDIT: Actually, no, they don't. I spent quite some time in my past editing tracks, parts, etc. on an old Yamaha AW4416. If you've used that machine to the degree I did, you know how long it takes and how much math you have to do. However, I can still say to this day, I trust the Yamaha AW4416's editor more than Sonar X1/X2. That's because it does EXACTLY what you expect every time.

Sadly I don't think this is a "feature" as one of the Bakers attempted to help me out and didn't seem to recognize said behavior. However it is obviously not effecting everyone otherwise there'd be more people screaming bloody murder over it. Maybe those of us who are experiencing this should try to widdle down what we have in common in regards to our systems and settings.

We could even give ourselves a snazzy name like "The X2 Wackety Woobly Editors Ensemble".

...

okay, the name needs work... but we should totally do this thing. ;-)
