X3 Studio and Tascam DP-24

I'm kind of new to this so please bear with me. I am the owner of Sonar X3 Studio and can get a good deal on a Tascam DP 24. My question is whether or not the DP 24 will play well with Sonar, or if there's something else more suitable than the DP 24. The end result is to make recordings of live musicians and mix them down to a final product.

Thanks!

    Welcome!
Do I understand correctly: You do recordings mobile/on the field, and move them to SONAR later? If not, then I don't see
    any use for a recorder.
At least price/quality ratio should be quite decent. How much easier it is compared to a laptop + an audio interface, I'm not sure. AFAIK the file transportation via USB or the SD card works ok. I don't have experience of my own, though.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

Actually it will be both but 99% will be at home. Another item I was looking at is a Tascam US-1800. It's a lot less expensive and looks like it can be used directly by Sonar. Bottom line is I need to have XLR inputs available to the software.

Ok, so you are looking for an audio interface with XLRs.  How many inputs and what kind do you need (Mic, Line, MIDI, etc.)?  Also, very important, what is your budget for an interface?

    Kind regards,

P.S. I saw a thread in the Hardware forum in which someone was requesting interface suggestions:  http://forum.cakewalk.com...gestions-m3016243.aspx

    Kind regards, Living Room Rocker

Actually, I found another product which is more suitable; a Tascam US-1800. It has 8 XLR in's and 6 balanced line in's, a complement of outputs and usb. I really don't need the mixing capabilities of the DP-24 since Sonar will handle all mixing functions.
