UPDATE!!!!!

Issues list now here:
http://forum.cakewalk.com/X3D-Issues-and-general-comments-m2952585.aspx#2952585

Other problems that keep cropping up:
These darned forums keep grinding to a halt.
Sonar X3 demo needed.
Never get email confirmations when logging bugs or feature requests with reference numbers.

For the record the original POST WAS:

A thread for issues you still want fixed or any new issues with X3D. If you've got X3C or earlier versions please go away :)
Straight away I have one.
I have the Melodyne Editor. When installing the X3D patch it prompt for Melodyne installation, asking me whether I want to update/repair or remove melodyne. Wasn't sure what to do so I just cancelled it for now.

i'm gonna test the video export a bit later...I shall report back...hopefully an export of a video project wont throw up useless errors with the new engine OR make a video thats usually 200mb into 15gb....

I'm seeing the crash with more than one VST sending MIDI out listed as being fixed (CWBRN-2504, CWBRN-22141). However I'm not seeing the MIDI crosstalk from VST MIDI out into unrelated tracks while recording listed as being fixed (CWBRN-1336, CWBRN-22142). I thought Noel said it was fixed in X3d.

Is anyone with X3d able to verify that the crosstalk has been fixed?

The Melodyne installer launched and found an existing install.
You chose the right option in Cancel (you didn't want to update/remove/change the existing install).

It's just a total guess.... But monitoring the success of the X3D patch takes time, and so does testing  building another (demo) build.
Unless they decided just to go for it anyway (which is a perfectly reasonable strategy as well depending on the methodology).

And everytime I play predict cake I'm generally wrong... So ignore me.

Just exported a Video from the Sonar X3d timeline. Its a project I have been working on for a while.

The video was originally H264 1920x1080 and usually I would have to export the audio and re-marry in Premiere and re-export and then send back to the Director.

    So.......

Exported the video straight from X3d in H264...checked the codec in VLC and it reads the same BUT the playback is blocky, staggered (i.e losing frames left right and centre) and utterly useless for me.

The good news is at least it exports from Sonar with the new Video Engine but for me professionally this new video feature has added zilch to my workflow.

Very let down by this long time coming video feature.

    Better luck next time Bakers!

It would be nice if they had an automated process that also creates a demo build at the same time. That way since it is a paid upgrade, those that want to verify fixes first can do so right away.

An alternative approach is to create one build that can serve as both a demo and full version. To unlock the full version you'd need to enter a new license key once you pay for the upgrade.

    Did you check this?

    Media Foundation Video Support
As of SONAR X3d, SONAR’s video engine defaults to using Microsoft’s Media Foundation framework, instead of DirectShow. This fundamentally improves the way video files are loaded, played, edited and exported in SONAR. Media Foundation generally supports most older formats supported by DirectShow as well as many newer formats such as H264 video. If you experience compatibility issues with video files that worked well with previous versions of SONAR, you can globally revert to the DirectShow video engine by adding a configuration entry to AUD.INI:
    To do this:
    - click the "Edit Config File" button in Preferences | Configuration File
    - Add the following lines at the top of the file
    [Video]
    VideoEngine=0
    - Save the file from Notepad
    - Click "Reload Config Settings"

Now subsequently loaded projects will use the new DirectShow engine setting. Removing the above lines, or setting VideoEngine=1, will allow SONAR to globally use the new Media Foundation engine.

Nope Midi "ins and out" NOT  FIXED !!!! -Why Why Why !! Of all the DAWS this is a big issue for Sonar to address- MAYBE ? What's the point in having a midi arp VST if it "Plays " on all the other VST'S even when you have routed it just to that VST .Sonar is my "go to " Daw but with this issue I have to use Ableton -not happy

Oh no!! Please don't tell me its still just as broken as ever . Noel confirmed this will be fixed in X3d:

The short version is that if you rely on VSTi plugins that send MIDI events out, you will get crosstalk into other tracks when you record on them (say from an external MIDI controller). In addition, if you have more than 1 VSTi sending MIDI events out, Sonar will crash. There are no workarounds for these two issues. I absolutely rely on more than one VSTi sending MIDI events out, and since Sonar can't handle this I'm forced to use another DAW that can.

The crash and "crosstalk" have both been addressed in X3D along with other issues related to MIDI out VST's.

Noel is it possible to clarify this a bit more?

The Antares Mic Mod VST3 crash has been fixed!  It now opens and works OK as a VST3.   This was not listed as a fix for the "D" update.

    Thanks.

Arto Vaarala Kirnu All inputs Omni / Sylenth input to Kirnu fine but .... When recording a bass say D Cam -Cypher or any VST  WITH INPUTS SET AS NONE it "picks " up Kirnu on Play back . Yes the Input echo is only on for the bass track . How ever when you then go to re-edit Sylenth it then also plays back the Arp

I was a bit concerned when Noel put "crosstalk" in quotes. I have a feeling he might be talking about something else. If you have any plugin sending MIDI out back into Sonar and those MIDI events then bleed into the inputs of other unrelated tracks while recording, I'm not sure what else to call it other than crosstalk. Is there a different term when MIDI or audio ends up in tracks it should not be in?

The Playlist bugs I reported 2 updates ago have still not been addressed. It's basically unusable in a live situation. I still have to use X2.

    Specifics or references please.

Try to use the playlist with it set to always on top.
