You're A Star - lead song from my new album

I FINALLY finished my new album, Gravedigging For Two.  It took six long years to find a way for the 10 songs to gel as a package, but I'm really proud of the result.

Here's the first song, You're A Star.  I'd love to hear any feedback or criticism (preferably constructive).

* All recorded in SPlat.
Addictive Drums, Amplitube sims.  I programmed or played everything except for the sax, which i hired someone to do.

    Hiya Matt,

    That sounded really good

Yeah, six years sounds like a long time, but so long as you are happy with the end result then it doesn't matter how long it took.

Good luck with the new album

Yeah, the Stax influence comes through in the horn parts. This is really good Matt, well written, recorded & produced. I hope it does well for you.

This would do really well in the college radio market if that even exists anymore.  Really great!

    Yes best of luck!

It had a nice rocky groove and the vocals are kinda catchy. Indie country 90's singer songwriter. Kinda gave me a Chuck Mead feel. Cool beans!

A mix crit might be the drums sounded too far back in the reverb dept, but it's not a horrible error, just my personal taste. That does kind of mark it as a 90's child but hey it still grooves.

I like the lead guitar noodles as well.

    cheers,
    -Tom

Well done, Matt!  My only suggestion would be to turn the sax up a bit because it has a nice Clarence Clemons feel.  Otherwise, this gets my vote.

Wow, six years? Sounds like only five.
Can't wait until the next album is released in 2024.

    Thanks guys!
We did try both of those suggestions - I love the sax lines, and wasn't sure how much to "promote" them.
As for the drum reverb, we did play around with that but decided there wasn't a lot of space for the drum room.  Both are things that I did consider, and interesting that you pointed them out.  :)

College radio would be interesting if it's still alive (i think it became "independent" in the 90s).  Besides, college girls probably think i'm creepy and old!  So there's not much point in promoting myself there.

    Hi, Math
Good song, keep working, I wish you to be successful with the album as you were with the previous or even better...

I have also uploaded a new song recently and even created a thread about it. So, if you are interested you could hear it and tell me your opinion
