Cakewalk, is there a studio desk that will fit the V-studio 700 and it's rackmount gear?

I'm cutting and drilling and glueing one together right now. The demeinsions for the VS 700 are:

    Console-28.75" wide-17" deep-5" high

    I/O Synth. Unit-17.125" Wide-13.75 deep-3.45" high

Centering the VS 700 console between the studio monitors and still getting all the rack equipment in within 62" of wall space was my problem. I'm sure someone will come up with a custom for it.

I think I'll get the Argosy console. The board will fit on the table top between the racks and have room for two 19" monitors as well.

But it'd be nice to see one where the board fits down INTO the desk... maybe I'm old school :) I'd also like to see more faders... :)

What size computer monitors are those?

When looking at the photo I thought, wouldn't a desk that sets the board in the desk be an issue with the front mounted inputs?

For my humble rig, I'm using a $40 utility table covered with a nice cloth. It looks really good, it's very functional, and I've got lots of space. Room for dual 22" monitors, JBL 4326 monitors, Kurzweil keyboard, PC, keyboard, mouse, IO.

    Craig,

    That looks awesome!

If I can make one small suggestion it would be to spread those monitors out a little farther. Swapping the left monitor's position with the analogue mixer should do the trick.

    BTW, where is the VS-700R?

I'll try that Seth. It's works real good centered over the console though. That way I don't have to move around to get centered between the monitors. You think I need more distance?
BTW the V-700 R is right below the console pull out. Since I had some space restrictions I had to compromise and locate things on the desk that didn't have operable controls on the face down below. It's really no problem to step back to veiw the level meters. A few less than than optimal trade offs but everything is within reach of the sitting position.

Craig.....Wow, your setup is really nice; everything close at hand and laid out very well.  Obviously that took some planning and woodworking skills.  The planning part I have down; the woodworking skills--nada.  That's why I had to order a desk and pay through the nose :)

Anyway, impressive job.  I know your enjoying it.

Ain't that the truth. Craig - did you design the desk yourself, is it a kit or did you build it from a set of plans? There used to be furniture places years back that sold stuff you put together and stained/painted yourself but haven't seen them in a dog's age. I really like the pull out shelf for the VS console. It looks like you have another shelf mounted to it for the computer keyboard, right? A collapsible setup like that would work wonders for me as I have a real tight space for my music stuff that when in use makes for almost no room to walk around in the living room.

I'm no Norm Abram (New Yankee Workshop) to be able to come up with something myself but I can follow a good set of plans and I do have most of the tools needed.

I loved that show. Actually I built it myself right in the kitchen. Good thing I'm not married, it would have certainly led to divorce court.
I sat down and spent some time designing something to fit in that small space. Yes the keyboard shelf pulls out also.
I'd send you the plans but I don't have any other than chicken scratchs on a much abused peice of paper.
I'd like to have everything at eye level but give and take and compromise and space took over.
