Studio Instruments in Creator5

I am a novice at recording,  but have successfully recorded live music into audacity and applied effects.  I am trying to take my skills to the next level, so I bought Music Creator with Studio Instruments.

What I can't figure out  is ...I just want to add a couple of cello notes in a particular spot of the song....how do I do that?  I can insert the soft synth track, I arm it to record, and play the notes from the key board when I want them heard.  The notes sound, but do not record.

Is there some type of "help section" for newbies.  Info and videos  are long on "capabilities" but very  thin on "procedure" .
